Novak Djokovic ends two-time defending champion Jannik Sinner’s reign - and will now face Carlos Alcaraz in Sunday’s final with a stand-alone 25th singles major in the sport on the line for the Serbian.
The veteran fourth seed dashed the world number two’s bid for a Threepeat and snapped his 19-match streak at Melbourne Park to produce one of his greatest ever comebacks.
The 38-year-old kept believing at two-sets-to-one down and hit back, producing mesmerising tennis to halt the world number two’s recent dominance at this tournament.
It was pure resilience from Novak in that fifth set, time and time again defying Sinner on break point before serving out from deuce on his third match point to prevail in four hours and nine minutes.
The 10-time Australian Open champion will now try to maintain his 100 percent record in Melbourne finals against top seed Alcaraz, who will also be bidding for history as he looks to become the youngest man to complete a Career Grand Slam.

The Serb keeps pressing at 30-0 and 40-15 down and piles on the pressure at deuce when he makes a quite awesome crosscourt forehand winner on the run from deep behind his baseline.
It paves the way for the fourth seed’s first break point of the set as Jannik shanks a forehand wide off a pacy, neutral ball.
The 10-time champion had been clinging on for much of this set, but he makes his chance count as Sinner spews another error wide off his forehand to hand the veteran the breakthrough!

Its déjà vu for Sinner as Djoker arrows a majestic backhand down the line and then follows with an equally brilliant forehand up the opposite wing to make deuce.
The world number two gets a third chance when Novak fires long off a rapid return but is overzealous on a poor second serve return and blasts into the tramlines.
