Novak Djokovic at 2024 Paris Olympic Games: When is he playing? Is he playing singles and doubles for Serbia?

An Olympic gold medal has eluded Novak Djokovic so far in his career. The 24-time Grand Slam champion lost in the bronze medal match last time out in Tokyo, but will he win gold for Serbia in Paris? We run through all you need to know about Djokovic's Olympic participation, including when he is playing, where he is seeded in the draw and if he is playing doubles as well as singles.

Novak Djokovic has his sights on Olympic gold this summer.
Djokovic has won 24 Grand Slam titles, 40 Masters titles, and spent 428 weeks as world No. 1, but winning a gold medal for Serbia has eluded him so far.
His best performance at the Games was in 2008 when he won bronze. Last time out in Tokyo he was beaten in the singles bronze medal match by Pablo Carreno Busta.
When does he start his bid for gold? Where is he seeded in the draw, could he play Rafael Nadal, and which events is he playing?
When does Djokovic play at Olympics?
Djokovic has been drawn to play Australia's Matthew Ebden in the opening round of the singles.
If Djokovic wins that then he could face a blockbuster second-round clash with Rafael Nadal, who opens against Marton Fucsovics.
It would be the first meeting between Djokovic and Nadal since the 2022 French Open quarter-finals, when Nadal won in four sets.
The singles and doubles draws start on Saturday, July 27. Djokovic will play his opening singles match on either July 27 or 28.
The men’s singles final takes place on Sunday, August 4.
Is Djokovic competing in doubles?
Djokovic only signed up for the singles draw at the Olympics.
He is not entered into the men’s doubles and will not play mixed doubles as Serbia do not have any women entered into the tennis event.
Djokovic did play mixed doubles in Tokyo but withdrew from the bronze medal match due to injury.
This time around he will focus all his efforts on singles.
Where will Djokovic be seeded at the Olympics?
Djokovic is set to be the second seed in singles behind world No. 1 Jannik Sinner.
Carlos Alcaraz, who beat Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, will be the third seed, with Alexander Zverev, who beat Djokovic in Tokyo three years ago, as the fourth seed.
Djokovic has ‘two big goals’ for year
Djokovic’s participation at the Olympics was in doubt after he underwent knee surgery following the French Open.
But he made a rapid recovery to play at Wimbledon, where he lost to Alcaraz in the final.
He said afterwards that he now has “two big goals” for the rest of the season.
“I still have intentions to play Olympic Games, hopefully have a chance to fight for a medal for my country. On a completely different surface obviously, going back to the place where I got injured some weeks ago. Let's see.

“Let's see how physically and mentally I'm going to feel. Hopefully I can find the right tennis because I'm going to need all I have and more to go to the final of the Olympic Games.
“The Olympic Games and US Open are the two big goals for the rest of the year for me really. I'm hoping I can be at my best on those two tournaments.”
The US Open, the final major of the year, starts on August 26, three weeks after the conclusion of the tennis event at the Olympics.
