When were the gold medal matches and the finals for the tennis events? The tennis event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is now finished after a thrilling nine days of on-court action.
Novak Djokovic achieved his dream of winning an Olympic gold medal after he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the singles final on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the women's final on Saturday saw Qinwen Zheng beat Donna Vekic to Olympic gold.
When were the Olympic tennis medal matches?
The Olympic singles and doubles medal matches took place between August 2-4.
The mixed doubles gold medal match took place on Friday and saw Czech duo Tomas Machac and Katerina Siniakova win gold.
The women’s single final was on Saturday, August 3, the same day as the men's singles bronze medal match and the men's doubles final.
World No. 1 Iga Swiatek was seen as favourite to earn an Olympic gold but finished her campaign with a bronze.
Instead, the gold medal in the women's singles title was claimed by Zheng, who defeated Croatian Vekic to win China's first ever OIympic gold in tennis.
The men's doubles final saw Australian pair Matthew Ebden and John Peers take home gold, beating America's Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram.
The men’s singles final took place on Sunday, August 4, and was followed by the women’s doubles bronze medal match and before the women’s doubles final.
Djokovic added a gold medal to his collection of 24 tennis grand slam victories, beating youngster Alacaraz, who was competing in his first Olympic Games.

WHAT was THE TENNIS OLYMPIC FORMAT?
The men’s and women’s singles werere both 64-player draws. The men’s and women’s doubles were 32 teams and mixed doubles 16 teams.
All singles matches were best-of-three sets with a seven-point tie-breaker in the third set. The doubles matches were also best-of-three sets but a 10-point match tie-break was contested instead of a third set.
Were tennis ranking points available?
There are no ranking points awarded for the tennis event at the Olympics.
The Olympic tennis event is soon followed by the US Open, which begins on August 26.
