The 2025 tennis season will officially start with the United Cup.

The mixed team event was first held in 2022 and is played across Perth and Sydney.

It will feature a number of top players from the ATP and WTA tours, including Iga Swiatek, Taylor Fritz, Coco Gauff, and Jack Draper.

Here’s all you need to know about the 2025 United Cup.

When and where is the 2025 United Cup?

The United Cup runs from December 27, 2024 until January 5, 2025.

The final on January 5 is one week before the start of the 2025 Australian Open.

The group stage matches and quarter-finals will be split across Sydney and Perth. The semi-finals and final will be played in Sydney.

Great Britain will play all their matches in Sydney.

The day sessions start at either 11.30pm UK time in Sydney or 2am UK time in Perth. Evening sessions begin at 6.30am UK time in Sydney or 9am UK time in Perth.

December 30: Great Britain v Argentina, Poland v Norway (Sydney); Greece v Kazakhstan, China v Germany (Perth)
December 31: Italy v France (Sydney); USA v Croatia (Perth)
January 1: Poland v Czech Republic, Great Britain v Australia (Sydney); Quarter-finals (Perth)

How does the United Cup work?

There are 18 nations at the United Cup split into six groups, with only the winners of the groups advancing to the quarter-finals.

Each tie features a men’s singles match, women’s singles match and mixed doubles match. All singles matches are best-of-three sets while the doubles has a 10-point tie-break instead of a third set.

Who is playing in the United Cup?

Germany will be back to defend their title and will be led by world No. 2 Alexander Zverev.

USA have Taylor Fritz, Coco Gauff and Danielle Collins on their team while Italy are led by Billie Jean King Cup winners Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani.

Jack Draper and Katie Boulter will be the leading singles players for Great Britain. Also on the team are Billy Harris, Lily Miyazaki, Charles Broom and Olivia Nicholls.

Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz are playing for Poland, Alex de Minaur leads Australia and Casper Ruud is the star name for Norway.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari are competing for Greece.

When do Great Britain play?

Great Britain are in Group F alongside Australia and Argentina.

They will play Argentina on Monday, December 30 and then Australia on Wednesday, January 1.

The tie against Australia could see Katie Boulter facing boyfriend Alex de Minaur in the mixed doubles.

If Great Britain win the group, their quarter-final will be on Friday, January 3 and the semi-final will be on Saturday, January 4.

Are there ranking points on offer?

The United Cup does offer ranking points to players.

The maximum amount a player can obtain is 500 ranking points.

Who won the United Cup in 2024?

Germany beat Poland 2–1 in the final to win the 2024 United Cup.

Great Britain came third in their group on total number of sets won after all three teams ended with one victory.
