World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka has said that she wants to "kick Nick Kyrgios' a**" in the proposed 'Battle of the Sexes". Talks have reportedly taken place about the possibility of a mouthwatering encounter between the 2025 US Open finalist and the Australian star. However, a date and venue for the clash is yet to be announced. Kyrgios has struggled with his fitness for several years.

US Open finalist Aryna Sabalenka has said that she would like to "kick Nick Kyrgios’ a**" if the pair go head-to-head in a proposed ‘battle of the sexes’ style tennis match.

Sabalenka moved one step closer to retaining her US Open title by defeating Jessica Pegula 4-6 6-3 6-4 at Flushing Meadows on Friday.

A date and venue for the widely rumoured clash between Sabalenka and Kyrgios is yet to be announced, but the pair are represented by the same agent, Stuart Duguid.

Sabalenka insists that she would come out on top in the battle of the sexes.

"I think it's a cool idea and will be spectacular to watch," Sabalenka said after reaching the US Open final.

"It's going to be fun, especially against someone like Nick.

"Like he said in another interview, I genuinely think that I'm going to win and I'll definitely go out there and I'll try my best to kick his a**.

"It's gonna be good thing if I'll be able to beat him, but for now, we are not sure about the place.

"But definitely if we're going to bring it, we're going to bring it to somewhere where it's going to be a lot of people watching, and we're gonna put a lot of pressure on Nick."

Sabalenka will take on Amanda Anisimova in the final of the US Open after the American star defeated Naomi Osaka in the Grand Slam’s other semi-final.

The two met in the semi-finals of Wimbledon two months ago, but things did not go to plan for the world No. 1.

She fell to 6-4 4-6 6-4 defeat on Centre Court, missing out on the chance to reach the final in SW19 for the first time in her illustrious career.

Kyrgios is currently the world No. 651 after an injury-hit few years.

The Australian’s best performance at a Grand Slam came in 2022 when he reached the final of Wimbledon, losing in four sets to Novak Djokovic.
