'You can't do that!' – Wild scenes as fan wrestles ball out of player's hand after catch during Yankees-Dodgers

A quite incredible moment occurred in Game 4 of the World Series between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers, involving a disputed home run, a stunning catch and some considerable fan interference.

In the first inning, Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts went up to make a catch way out to the right as Yankees’ lead-off hitter Gleyber Torres struck the ball.

Close-up footage showed that Betts successfully made the catch, before a fan inexplicably tried to wrestle the ball out of his glove, much to the 32-year-old’s disbelief.

An initial home run appeared on the scoreboard, before Betts' protestations saw it reversed for fan interference.

The TNT Sports commentators attempted to digest what they had seen...

- "Mookie jumps, and he's wrestling with the fan, and he's going to give the call. That right field umpire, that's Mark Carlson. He's calling Torres out for fan interference."

- "I've never seen anything like that!"

- "Mookie had it, and it was wrestled away from him; it looked like."

- "Check this out, he jumps in, and watch him [the fan] wrestle with his [Mookie] glove."

- "Oh man, you can't do that! It's one thing if the ball is in the stands and you knock it away from a player, but you can't do that. It could have been a home run ball."

There were subsequent reports that two fans were ejected following their actions.

The Yankees emerged victorious with an 11-4 victory, and Betts is ready to move on from the controversial incident.

“When it comes to the person in play, it doesn’t matter,” Betts said in quotes published by the Guardian.

“We lost. It’s irrelevant. I’m fine. He’s fine. Everything’s cool.

"We lost the game and that’s what I’m kind of focused on. We've got to turn the page and get ready for tomorrow.”
