There have been dramatic moments in boxing at the Commonwealth Games in the past, but few have been more strange than what happened at the SEC Hall when only one boxer was present in the ring for the fight, resulting in a comical walkover.

Namibia’s Tryagain Morning Ndevelo was scheduled to take on Trinidadian Anthony Joseph in the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games men’s 60kg round of 32, only to find himself alone in the ring.
Joseph had missed his scheduled time, and so Ndevelo was awarded a walkover, with the Trinidadian caught looking dejected moments later.
As per convention, Ndevelo completed his walk-on, looking suitably pumped as he climbed into the ring amid the smoke guns.
After a quick check from the referee, he warmed up in his corner, but Joseph’s name was called out to no response.
Silence ensued as the Namibian patiently waited, before the starting bell rang, with only one boxer in the ring.
Following the confusion, the contest was officially ended as the Namibian took his gloves off, before accepting the result in a bizarre scene where the referee had just one boxer by his side.
Moments later, the camera panned to Joseph, who had popped his head round the corner, only to be escorted from the arena, head in his gloves.

TNT Sports reporter Lutalo Muhammad was in the mixed zone to report on the situation.
He said: ”A little bit of a bizarre situation. Tryagain has clearly come into the ring ready to fight and, what’s really interesting is the Trinidadian.
”We’ve seen him pop his head around the corner, but he was escorted back out of the arena.
”No idea what’s gone on backstage, but a bizarre circumstance indeed.
”You can see him being escorted back with his head in his hands, so perhaps he missed his call.Â
"He might have been a bit late, but he seemed ready. He seemed absolutely distraught to be escorted out backstage.
”Certainly one of the more bizarre things I’ve seen at a boxing tournament.”
TNT Sports commentator Richie Woodhall added: ”There’s a time limit for the contest to actually start. He’s gone over that time limit, that’s why you heard the bell.
”He’s just too late, and so they move on. There’s a time schedule for each contest and he’s out. That’s the way it is.
”It’s terrible for him. His camp have got the timings wrong, he was given the time schedule, and he’s failed to make it.”
It was Joseph’s second disappointment at the Commonwealth Games, having lost in the first round in Birmingham in 2022 via a split decision.
Ndevelo, meanwhile, has advanced to the round of 16, where he will take on Bangladesh’s Mohamed Ruzin Reza on Monday, live on TNT Sports and HBO Max.

It is Ndevelo’s third appearance at the Commonwealth Games, having lost in the last 16 on the Gold Coast, before reaching the quarter-finals in Birmingham four years later.Â
