TADEJ POGACAR: MY TEAM GAVE ME HOPE

I don't know. When I crashed for a second I thought it was all over. Luckily I was quickly back on the bike, with not too much damage to me or the bike. Then I saw my team, Florian and Felix, who gave everything to get me back to the front. They gave me back hope and the legs were still okay. Brandon and Isaac did the rest on the Cipressa. Today if there's no team I probably go straight to the finish.

When we were turning I was really happy that everybody worked. There was a bit of a headwind, not like last year, which wasn't idea, and meant it was a bit harder on the middle part, but better for the Poggio. I tried to go alone but Tom was very strong. Chapeau also to Mathieu. I was lucky in the sprint - Tom is really fast and I was a bit afraid when he let me go fast. I knew I couldn't wait too long and was surprised in the end.

It's incredible. So difficult to explain the emotion in this moment. Everybody knows how complicated this race is, how much it was complicated by the crash. The team did well. Tadej showed something else. Motivation, everything. It's just impressive. Wow. This morning I said we were waiting 365 days for this moment and finally we did it. So big. All the champions dream to win this race, because of its place in history. Having it on the palmares is huge.

He held off the peloton. Mads Pedersen was the best of the rest in fourth, in what he will surely consider a very satisfactory result. Eighth for Van der Poel in the end.

TADEJ POGACAR WINS MILAN-SANREMO!

What. A. Finish! Pidcock forced the World Champion to lead it out, and he looked to be coming through, but an extra injection of power was enough for Pogacar to get to the line first. There was so little in it, maybe half a wheel, but the Tour de France champion has won Milan-Sanremo.
