Urska Zigart to compete in 2026 Tour de France Femmes just six weeks after crash fractured her jaw - 'I had an angel looking out for me'

Urska Zigart will make a stunning return at the 2026 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, six weeks after a high-speed crash left her with a fractured jaw. The AG Insurance-Soudal rider crashed after hitting a road hump during Stage 2 of the Tour de Suisse Women in Locarno on June 18.

Zigart was taken to hospital following the crash with initial examinations confirming a jaw fracture.
It was not clear whether an operation would be required and her participation in the biggest race of the year was in serious doubt.
However, the 29-year-old made a quicker recovery than expected and will line up to take on her rivals in the first stage of the Tour de France Femmes in Lausanne on Saturday.
”From the crash to the Tour de France!” Zigart wrote on Instagram.
”I’m grateful to just be here and get to do this bike racing thing all over again in the first place and I will try to enjoy this crazy race.
”The first days were a bit touch and go without having a clear idea of what the comeback path was going to be, but I had an angel looking out for me from above and I was really lucky with my recovery."

Zigart's partner is Tadej Pogacar, the cycling great who claimed an historic fifth Tour de France title in Paris last weekend. Pogacar was said to be "shaken" by the incident in Locarno.
Zigart finished sixth at La Vuelta Femenina and eighth in the Giro d'Italia Women earlier this year.
The Tour de France Femmes, which was won last year by Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, will take up the attention of the cycling world over the next nine days.
The action begins in Switzerland but soon transfers to France and will conclude in Nice on August 9.
