Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz to share Tour de France leadership role for Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe - 'Both aiming for the ultimate goal'

Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe have announced two of their riders will take on a dual leadership role at the Tour de France in 2026. New signing Remco Evenepoel, who is attempting to win the race for the first time, will be joined by 2025 young rider classification winner Florian Lipowitz. The former says it is "a good thing" to have "several options" as his team attempt to win the yellow jersey.

Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz will share the leadership role for Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe at the 2026 Tour de France.
Next year's race gets underway on July 4 in Barcelona, live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
It will be the 113th edition of cycling's blue ribbon event, with Spain hosting the opening three stages.
Evenepoel is among the favourites to claim the yellow jersey after announcing he will join Red Bull from Soudal Quick-Step this winter.
And it has now been confirmed that he will have a co-lead in the form of Lipowitz.
"We are both aiming for the ultimate goal: victory," Evenepoel said at a training camp in Mallorca.

Evenepoel finished third at the 2024 Tour de France, but abandoned last year's race during Stage 14 due to a "broken rib and a tired body".
His new team-mate Lipowitz had a breakout season last year as he won the best young rider classification at the Tour de France.
The German also came overall third in the general classification in what was only his second Grand Tour event. At 25-years-old, he is nine months Evenepoel's junior.
"This will be the first time I share leadership in the Tour de France," Evenepoel added. "That's a good thing, it's always better to have several options."
Winning the race is top of Evenepoel's wishlist for 2026. He has opted to miss the Giro D'Italia, where he won a couple of stages in 2023, while the Tour of Flanders is also off the cards.
"I'll start with TTT in Mallorca, then go to Valencia, then after that we will still decide," he continued. "I'll do Catalunya and then Ardennes.
"I just want a good season, which is easy-going with not so many crazy things, and I hope to end the season with no interruptions. The future plan will be the future plan."
