The 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony will take place in Paris on Monday evening, with the best men’s and women’s players of the 2024/25 season set to be crowned.

Ousmane Dembele is the favourite to take home the men's award following his significant contributions to Paris Saint-Germain's treble-winning campaign.

Dembele's team-mate Vitinha is a likely candidate to challenge the Frenchman, along with Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.

Meanwhile, there are several Lionesses nominated for the women's prize following their European Championship success in the summer, with Leah Williamson, Alessia Russo and Chloe Kelly in the running, having also won the Champions League with Arsenal.

Spain's Aitana Bonmati is nominated once again, having taken home the trophy on the previous two occasions.

Where and when is the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony taking place?

The 2025 Ballon d’Or award ceremony will once again be held at the stunning Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, on Monday, September 22.

The ceremony is due to get underway at 7pm GMT and will be hosted by presenter Kate Scott and 1987 Ballon d’Or winner Ruud Gullit.

How to watch the 2025 Ballon d’Or

The ceremony will be livestreamed for free on the official L’Equipe YouTube channel and website.

How does the voting work?

On August 7, 30 nominees were announced for both the Ballon d’Or and the Ballon d’Or Feminin. These were chosen by a committee, made up of journalists from France Football and L’Equipe.

One football journalist from each of the top 100 FIFA-ranked nations will cast a vote for their top 10 men’s and women’s players in order.

Points will be awarded to players based on where they are ranked in the journalists' top 10, and the winner of the award will be the player with the most overall points.

What other awards are up for grabs?

Alongside the Ballon d’Or and Ballon d’Or Feminin, there will be a further eight awards presented on the night.

The Kopa Trophy will be awarded to the best player under 21 years old, the Yashine Trophy will be given to the best goalkeeper, and the Gerd Muller Trophy will go to the top goalscorer from the 2024/25 campaign.

There are men's and women's Club of the Year awards, and men's and women's Johan Cruyff Trophies up for grabs, for the best coaches.

Finally, the Socrates Award will be awarded for the best humanitarian work.
