Keira Walsh's strike helped league leaders Chelsea win a London derby against Tottenham, and Manchester United won at the Hill Dickinson Stadium against Everton. That was not all, though, in this weekend's WSL action. West Ham fell to defeat against London City Lionesses and Aston Villa drew 0-0 with Leicester City, despite a dominant first-half display at Villa Park.

Walsh strike sees Chelsea win London derby

Keira Walsh’s strike helped defending champions Chelsea maintain their lead at the top of WSL table with a 1-0 win against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues are still one point ahead of second-place side Manchester City having recorded five wins and one draw from their opening six fixtures.

Walsh gave her side the lead in the 61st minute.

She produced a brilliant finish to beat Lize Kop after getting on the end of Ellie Carpenter’s lay off.

The result leaves Spurs in fourth place on 12 points.

City secure all three points at Anfield

Manchester City came back from a goal down to beat Liverpool 2-1.

The Reds took the lead in the 52nd minute when Cornelia Kapocs got on the end of Ceri Holland’s cross before heading the ball past Ayaka Yamashita.

However, City equalised 12 minutes later when Iman Beney fired a rebound into the back of the net.

Aoba Fujino scored the winner with four minutes remaining to help her side leapfrog Manchester United into second place.

Liverpool remain in 11th place, outside of the relegation zone on goal difference, having failed to register a point in the WSL this term.

Man Utd battle back to win first WSL game at Hill Dickinson

Manchester United battled back from a goal down to keep up their chase of Chelsea with a 4-1 triumph over Everton.

Honoka Hayashi took advantage of a careless Phallon Tullis-Joyce clearance to give the hosts the lead in the first WSL game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

They maintained their lead until the 62nd minute when Melvine Malard equalised after going one-on-one with goalkeeper Emily Ramsey.

It was 2-1 to the visitors eight minutes later when Hikaru Kitagawa scored an own goal.

Jess Park made sure of things with two goals in the final 10 minutes.

The Red Devils are still undefeated this season, while defeat leaves The Toffees in 10th.

Arsenal end windless run

Arsenal ended a run of four games without a win across all competitions by beating Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 at Emirates Stadium.

Olivia Smith’s effort deflected in off Brighton’s Marisa Olislagers in the 15th minute to give the home side the lead.

Daphne van Domselaar produced two excellent stops to deny Kiko Seike before half-time as The Seagulls pushed for an equaliser.

Maelys Mpome cleared the ball off the line and Stina Blackstenius hit the crossbar as the match drew to a close, but The Gunners could not increase their lead.

Arsenal are now fifth in the table, while Brighton will finish the weekend in seventh.

West Ham remain pointless

West Ham United are still without a WSL point this season following their 1-0 defeat against London City Lionesses.

The Hammers impressed during the first half and appeared to be on top heading into the final stages.

However, a goalkeeping error from Kinga Szemik allowed Kosovare Asllani to tap the ball into an empty net from close range.

The visitors have lost all six of their WSL fixtures so far and are rooted to the bottom of the table.

The newly promoted Lionesses are now sixth in the table with nine points.

Villa and Leicester draw

The spoils were shared between Aston Villa and Leicester City after a competitive 0-0 draw at Villa Park.

Janina Leitzig made several key saves for The Foxes during a dominant first-half display from the hosts.

Georgia Mullett had the chance to win it for her side in the second half after being picked out while unmarked in the box. However, she headed Kirsty Hanson's excellent delivery over the crossbar.

The result leaves Villa in eighth, while Leicester are ninth.
