‘Angry’ Ivan Perisic says PSV Eindhoven are ‘not a team’ ahead of Arsenal UEFA Champions League last-16 clash

PSV Eindhoven host Arsenal in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 clash on Tuesday night. But all is not well with the Eredivisie champions, who have lost back-to-back games domestically and are, according to ex-Spurs winger Ivan Perisic, "not a team". The 36-year-old said he was "angry" about the lack of togetherness in the squad, calling for things to "change quickly".

Ivan Perisic has bemoaned he feels is a lack of team spirit at PSV Eindhoven ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash with Arsenal.

The Dutch side go into Tuesday night's first leg off the back of two defeats against Go Ahead Eagles, the first in the KNVB Cup and the second in the Eredivisie.

PSV have lost ground on league leaders Ajax and are struggling for form as they prepare to host Mikel Arteta's side.

And Perisic has called on his team-mates to "quickly" address their lack of cohesion.

"We are not a team," the former Tottenham winger said. "We are not doing well.

"We should be more of a team, which we are not now. We are not fighting for each other and that makes me angry.

"We need to change that quickly. We need to give everything until the end of the season, because it is far from over.

"Why are we not a team? We talked about that. We create enough chances and score enough, but without the ball we need to do better. We need to fight and run for each other."

PSV head coach Peter Bosz gave his verdict on the team's "decline", insisting there are no major issues to address.

"There are a lot of small things that are now preventing you from winning, but those small things are important," he said.

"I understand that PSV's decline is now bigger news than the match we will play against Arsenal tomorrow, but that’s a great shame for football fans.

"We are among the best 16 in Europe. It is impressive that we are here."

PSV beat Juventus 4-3 on aggregate over two legs in the Champions League play-offs, but a 3-1 victory in the second leg at the Philips Stadion is their only win in their last six matches in all competitions.

The Dutch champions have been strong at home in Europe, though, beating Girona, Shakhtar Donetsk and Liverpool and drawing with Sporting in the league phase.
