Kairat 0-5 Real Madrid result - UEFA Champions League latest after Kylian Mbappe scores excellent hat-trick in Kazakhstan

Kylian Mbappe scored a devastating hat-trick as Real Madrid won 5-0 away at FC Kairat in Kazakhstan in the UEFA Champions League.

An Mbappe penalty settled the 15-time champions following a sloppy start against competition newcomers, who were hosting a game in the pool phase for the first time.

Mbappe added a second from a one-on-one shortly after half-time, latching onto a Thibaut Courtois clearance, and completed his hat-trick by lashing home from outside the box.

Substitutes Eduardo Camavinga and Brahim Diaz completed the scoring and the gulf in quality began to really show the longer the game went on.

Fifteen-time European champions Madrid have now beaten a record 112 teams in this competition and have two wins from two games this season. Kairat are still waiting for their first Champions League point.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Glenn Hoddle had kind words for Mbappe and, despite the scoreline, the hosts.

"After 45 minutes they were still in this game," he said of Kairat. "I did say I felt that Real Madrid needed to go up a gear or two, and they did. As soon as it became a bit stretched, an open game, that's when Madrid had time and space to use their quality.

"The same thing happened against Sporting actually. They got a goal early on, the game got stretched and there was just too much time and space they gave to Real Madrid as well as Sporting. It ended up an easier night for Real Madrid of course, but a great experience for their first Champions League [home game], they've got some young players and they'll gain a lot of experience."

As for the hat-trick hero? "He's in great form isn't he Mbappe? He's enjoying his play. I don't think the team is functioning that great, but he is certainly."

That's the end of it. Kairat started brightly, but in the end were no match for Madrid and that really showed as the game went on.

Mbappe was excellent and scored a devastating hat-trick, while the substitutes the 15-time champions could bring on were far superior to the hosts', as the late goals showed.

Bellingham flicks the ball to Gonzalo Garcia, Kairat are stretched, and Garcia plays in an unmarked Brahim who fires across the goalkeeper and in.

Bellingham shoots straight at the goalkeeper, a minute after Rodrygo did the same.

To start them, a Kairat corner doesn't beat the first man. Disappointing.

Having perhaps proved something of a point with his assist, Rodrygo looks to add a goal but shoots over from 25 yards out.

And it was the best of the bunch.

He's down quickly to keep out a Mata cross-cum-shot.

Camavinga carries the ball forward, plays it to Rodrygo on the left and continues his run into the box, where he's picked out with a cross and heads past the onrushing goalkeeper to add to the Madrid lead.

Bellingham, Camavinga and Gonzalo Garcia come on for Guler, Tchouameni and the match-winner Mbappe. No minutes for Enrick again.

Stpaev and Gromyko depart for Ricardinho and Zaria for the hosts.

Guler takes aim from long range but cannot hit the target.

Mrynskiy shows great recovery speed to get to a loose Rodrygo touch before Mbappe. Mbappe was through on goal otherwise.
