Internazionale 1-2 Bodo/Glimt result (2-5 agg): Jens Petter Hauge and Hakon Evjen goals see minnows knock Serie A giants out of UEFA Champions League

Bodo/Glimt became the first Norwegian team to ever win a knockout tie in the UEFA Champions League as the minnows triumphed 2-1 at San Siro to dump last year’s finalists Internazionale out of the competition at the play-off stage.

Kjetil Knutsen’s men were leading 3-1 from the first leg and rode their luck early on as Alessandro Bastoni, Davide Frattesi and Francesco Pio Esposito all went close in a one-sided first half.

The Serie A giants were missing star forward Lautaro Martinez through injury and it showed as the hosts failed to make the most of some excellent attacking situations.

Jens Petter Hauge then stunned Inter just shy of the hour when he tucked home a rebound after an awful error from Manuel Akanji.

The visitors added a second through Hakon Evjen’s lovely volley, which meant Bastoni’s goal 14 minutes from time proved academic.

Bodo/Glimt deservedly went on to prevail 5-2 on aggregate and will now face Sporting or Manchester City in the last 16, with the draw mapping out the knockout stage of the competition taking place on Friday.

TNT Sports expert Martin Keown sums up Inter's night: "Really poor. They just didn't have their snap in their game. 18 games unbeaten until Liverpool came (in the League Phase); now they can't win again.

"They've lost that invincibility, that aura. Three-times winners of the competition. Didn't move the ball quick enough. They didn't score quick enough, and they needed to score early, and that is a quite remarkable performance from a really outstanding team (Bodo/Glimt), which got to the semi-finals of the Europa last season.

"They learnt a lot from it, we saw a lot of good things from them.  They hung on in this competition. To win here is massive for their confidence. You wouldn't want to be playing this lot in the next round."

Alessandro Bastoni’s effort is adjudged to have crossed the line after Bonny had kept alive a right-wing corner at the far post.

What a goal! That could be curtains for Inter.

Hakon Evjen takes a pass on the burst and hooks a lovely volley into the far corner to put the Norwegian minnows in dreamland.

Dimarco rifles a rising shot past the near upright after sharp work from Bonny on the left.

A snapshot from a right-wing cut back hits the post and is flicked away by Haikin with Thuram hooking an awkward attempt from the rebound wide.

Gundersen booked for abruptly halting an Inter attack down the right.

Hogh is well-placed to clear off the line after Akanji had met a left-wing corner with a firm header.
