FODEN AT THE DOUBLE AND HAALAND NETS AGAIN IN DOMINANT MAN CITY WIN
Phil Foden struck twice and Erling Haaland continued his hot-streak as Manchester City stormed to a 4-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.
The hosts took the lead on 22 minutes when Foden was afforded plenty of space to turn and fire a low strike into the far corner.
City then added a second just seven minutes later as Haaland thumped in his 18th goal of the season from Jeremy Doku’s cut back.

Pep Guardiola’s men continued to dominate following the interval and Foden grabbed his second of the night with a bewitching turn and finish from the edge of the area on 57 minutes.
Dortmund pulled one back through Waldemar Anton 18 minutes from time, but it proved to be a mere consolation as substitute Rayan Cherki added a fourth in stoppage time.
The result sees City climb to fourth in the league phase standings with three wins and a draw from four outings. Dortmund, who suffered their first loss in the competition this season, are three points further back in 14th.
Next up, City host Liverpool in a crunch Premier League encounter on Sunday. Dortmund visit Hamburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

TNT SPORT’S ALLY MCCOIST REACTS TO MAN CITY’S VICTORY OVER BVB
"That’s it in a nutshell [City have been too good for BVB].
"Dortmund started pretty well as we said, but City looked to have stepped up a couple of gears [after that].
"There were some wonderful, wonderful finishes, particularly from that man Foden, two beautiful [finishes]; the second one, the execution was fantastic.
"Manchester City thoroughly deserved winners, another good performance."

FULL TIME: MAN CITY 4-1 BORUSSIA DORTMUND
Speaking to TNT Sports following the full-time whistle, Jeremy Doku gave his immediate reaction to the victory.
"It was a great night against a good opponent. I think we started really well. We scored some nice goals as well. The second half was a bit more difficult, but obviously we're very happy with this victory.
"I enjoyed it. I feel like I can still improve a lot more on my final passes, in front of the goal, but today I enjoyed it and I'm just going to rest now because of the big game ahead [v Liverpool on Sunday]."
Asked about Haaland and comparison to CR7 and Lionel Messi, he added: "In terms of numbers, Erling is unbelievable. Even tonight, he scored one goal, but he's so much more than just goals and assists. He provides that for us. He's so important for us."
On the prospect of rounding off the week with a win over Liverpool on Sunday, he said: "That would make it a perfect week [if they beat Liverpool] before the international break. We have to rest well, recover well and then we've got to prepare well for them."

A FIVE-STAR HAALAND STAT
Ally McCoist has just flagged up a very decent statistic.
Haaland has become the first player to net in five consecutive UEFA Champions League appearances for as many as three different teams; RB Salzburg (2019), BVB (2021) and now City.

VIDEO: DORTMUND PULL ONE BACK
More from McCoist: "From City's point of view, not good. From Dortmund's point of view, really well executed. Just a quick ball wide, early ball in. And doesn't he take it well? He lets it come across and hits it with his left foot."
Can the visitors launch a late fightback or is it merely a consolation?
