PSG 1-2 Bayern Munich: UEFA Champions League result as Germans fight with 10 men to continue flawless season

Bayern Munich continue their flawless season with a 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain to top the UEFA Champions League table despite having only ten men going into the second half.

An early lead kept their head above water as Luis Diaz scored the first goal of the match in the fourth minute, then sealed the deal 25 minutes later. Joao Neves beat Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer with an assist from Lee Kang-in, but it would be too little too late for the hosts.

The first half was all Bayern’s as they ran circles around PSG. They came close once as Ousmane Dembele seemed to tip Fabian Ruiz’s shot into the net, but it was ruled offside and the Ballon d’Or winner got subbed off soon after for Lee. 

Diaz caught Marquinhos napping soon after and scored to bring Bayern two up, but right before the half-time whistle, he made a dangerous tackle into Achraf Hakimi’s left foot that saw him sent off the pitch. 

Coming back after the break, Bayern were content to let PSG circle. They kept their defence narrow around the goal, and the hosts struggled to find a way past them. 

It would be substitute Neves who caught Lee’s cross on his right foot and sent it into the roof of the goal to give PSG hope going into the last twenty minutes of the match.

But despite their rejuvenated efforts, they ran out of time and Bayern successfully defended their lead to make it 16 consecutive unbeaten matches.

The victors visit Arsenal next, while PSG will host Tottenham Hotspur.

Thye are floating around the halfway line, Mendes in, Kvaratskhelia, Mayulu, back out to Pacho - they badly need to get it in the box now.

One last corner, it's now or ever and it is headed out for the final whistle. Bayern Munich have made it and they defeat the defending champions on their home turf!

Lee gets a beautiful pass to Mendes to the left corner, it goes out for a throw in. Marquinhos to a Lee cross in and Leimer tips it up with his left foot for Neuer to catch.

Can they fit in one more shot?

Kvaratskhelia on the outside, a massively deep cross and it goes to the right. It pings around the box and for a second it seems PSG might get a foot on it, but it ultimately goes out for a goal kick to give Bayern a breather.

It goes down to Mendes, to Kvaratskhelia, out to Lee who takes a shot himself this time and it is agonising for the PSG fans as it doesn't quite curl enough.

Five minutes of added time.

Kane off and Leon Goretzka comes on.

It's Lee with the big moves again, he sets up Neves in the box then passes to Vitinha for a shot from distance. Kvaratskhelia has a go and Bayern narrowly avoid a deflection that could have gone badly for Neuer.

Right place right time for Tah, who slides into Vitinha's attempt after a lovely couple of passes from PSG. Stanisic gets booked for a yellow, then shortly after the whistle goes for Mendes.

Five minutes left in regulation time.

Cross comes in but Stanisic is there to body the ball out for a corner. Centre-back Kim Minjae comes out for Olise in an attempt to retain Bayern's one-goal lead.

Lee into the box, it could have been Neves again with the header but it goes just wide! Lee has been hard at work in the last twenty minutes.

A brilliant delayed pass by Lee again from 30 yards out just to catch Bayern off guard, Zaire-Emery makes a fantastic dash past the Bayern line but Neuer slides in just in time to get his shin on the ball.

The crowd is reinvigorated now in the last 15 minutes as song rings around the Parc des Princes, Vitinha has another attempt from distance to the far post to test Neuer.

Leimer catches Kvaratskhelia, referee calls advantage, Lee crosses it into the box and Neves scores! He just catches it on his right foot and it goes into the roof of the goal.

Lee has a go at the far post from distance but it easily caught by Neuer. Kvaratskhelia crosses, but it is headed away. Kvaratskhelia tries to set up Ramos but is flanked by two Bayern defenders and doesn't get there.

They have only managed four shots on target, they need to figure out how to draw Bayern out.

Excellent effort from Vitinha who sends a shot in from 25 yards out, one of the first times Neuer has seen a bit of a challenge all match.

Olise with another run but it is a comfortable save for Chevalier.

Lovely ball through Bayern's defense from Vitinha to Kvaratskhelia, he takes a chance and it is caught by Neuer.

PSG brings on Neves and Ramos for Barcola and Ruiz, with Ramos having scored 18 of his 30 goals as a substitute. Ruiz seems to be in a bit of discomfort off the pitch.

This is why Kompany's side haven't lost a game yet, they have completely locked down their own goal and are playing rather narrowly. You'd think they'd be struggling more than this with a man down, but even now they are finding opportunities to go into PSG's half.

Olise makes a fantastic run up the pitch and Kane pulls Marquinhos aside for him, but his shot goes wide.

Kane has gone down next to the box rubbing his thigh, Pacho blocked him off from the ball but he seems to just be angling for another foul.

Ruiz runs in, goes left to Barcola, back to Mayulu who takes a crack at goal. Comes back out to Lee, Mendes gets some clean air but is quickly closed down by Olise.

Mendes swings a ball into the box, Barcola doesn't quite connect with it and Kane weaves it up the pitch. He tempts out the foul he wanted and they work their way up towards PSG's goal now.

Barcola up the left, not strong enough against Laimer who takes it off him.

Vitinha goes to Mendes, to Ruiz, it's taken off them by Olise. Bayern are content to let the ball stay in their half, and just guard their goal.
