UEFA Champions League draw: Which Premier League teams could face each other in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final?

There could be two all-Premier League quarter-finals in this season's UEFA Champions League, with Chelsea and Liverpool in the same quarter of the draw for the last 16, while Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are in the same bracket. Manchester City and Arsenal will not face an English side if they progress through their last 16 ties, but Pep Guardiola could make a return to Bayern Munich.

Chelsea and Liverpool could meet in one of two potential all-Premier League quarter-finals in this season's UEFA Champions League.

Following Friday's last-16 draw in Nyon, the remaining teams in the competition can now see their route to May's final in Budapest.

While there are no last 16 clashes between two English sides, there could be some Premier League match-ups in the following round.

Chelsea and Liverpool have been placed in the same quarter of the draw, meaning if the Blues come through their last 16 tie with holders Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool overcome Galatasaray, they will meet in the last eight.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also in the same section of the draw, meaning they could face each other in the quarter-finals with victories over Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, respectively.

Manchester City and Arsenal cannot face a fellow English side until the semi-finals, but Pep Guardiola's men are in the same half of the draw as Chelsea and Liverpool, while Arsenal are on the same side as Newcastle and Spurs....North London semi-final, anyone?

Mikel Arteta's side are in what appears to be the most favourable section of the draw, with a quarter-final against Bodo/Glimt or Sporting should they progress past Bayer Leverkusen.

As for City, they have a couple of heavyweight ties on the cards, facing Bayern Munich or Atalanta if they can overcome Real Madrid, in yet another meeting between the teams.

But if they make the semis, they could meet either Liverpool or Chelsea, should their English rivals progress.

And while there is a long, long way to go, it could even be a Manchester City v Arsenal final in Budapest, to go with their Premier League title showdown.

Chelsea and Liverpool met in the knockout stages of the Champions League in three successive seasons from 2007 to 2009, during a memorable era in the rivalry between the two clubs.

Liverpool progressed through their semi-final tie in the 2006/07 campaign, winning on penalties after both sides claimed 1–0 victories at home.

But the Blues came out on top in the next two seasons, winning their semi-final contest 4-3 on aggregate in 2007/08 before a 7-5 aggregate victory in the last eight the following campaign.

A potential semi-final against City would be a repeat of the 2020/21 final for Chelsea, while Liverpool last met Guardiola's side in Europe in the 2017/18 campaign, winning their quarter-final tie 5-1 on aggregate.

On the other side of the draw, a meeting between any of the English sides would be a first in the Champions League.
