SPOT-ON SOLANKE SENDS TOTTENHAM INTO EUROPA LEAGUE LAST FOUR
Dominic Solanke fired Tottenham into the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League with a 1-0 victory at Eintracht Frankfurt that eases some of the pressure on Ange Postecoglou.
The Lilywhites secured a 2-1 victory on aggregate as the former Bournemouth striker coolly converted a 43rd-minute penalty to snare the only goal of the second leg.
The spot kick was awarded after the referee was sent to the monitor by VAR to take another look at Frankfurt goalkeeper Kaua Santos’ clumsy challenge on James Maddison.
Spurs had chances to extend their lead in the second half, but both Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur headed off target.
Frankfurt piled on the pressure late on, but substitute Fares Chaibi and Rasmus Kristensen could not find the finish to force extra time.
The result ensures Spurs keep their season alive and sets up a last-four meeting against Bodo/Glimt, with the first leg set for May 1.
Next up, Spurs host Forest in the Premier League on Monday. Third-placed Frankfurt are at Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

THE TNT SPORTS EXPERTS REACT TO TOTTENHAM REACHING THE UEL LAST FOUR
Les Ferdinand: "We said at the start, it would take something from all the players to get over the line and to a man, every single player put in a shift tonight.
"The goalkeeper, when he was called upon, did what he had to do.
"It was just a thoroughly professional performance. We knew Frankfurt were going to come on strong in the second half, which they did, but they weathered the storm.
"Spurs did that really well. It sounds strange sitting here saying Spurs have won a game 1-0, but full credit to them. They went out with a game plan, stuck to the game plan and got the result they needed.
"They are now in the semi-finals. It’s another part of the job, and they have to go again."

Owen Hargreaves: "We said before the game, they [Spurs] score enough, they just needed to defend well.
"They defended like a team and had to suffer in that second half, but credit to Ange and the players. It’s been a really difficult season, but it actually showed that if you get the back four in with Vicario, they can defend properly. They really did tonight."
Hargreaves added: "I’m happy for Ange. Credit to them all. Every player stepped up today for Tottenham."

TNT SPORTS CO-COMMENTATOR GLENN HODDLE ON SPURS’ WIN
"It’s a magnificent performance. It really is and look at the joy it’s bringing to the whole team and the fans.
"They deserved it, defensively and with the ball, at times they controlled the game. Solanke’s penalty was as cool as a cucumber and there were spells they just had to dig in and they did.
"They won every ball played in at the end there, defended stoutly and really played as a team in a real balanced way. It was a magnificent performance, they deserved it."

RELIEF FOR TOTTENHAM AND ANGE POSTECOGLOU
The under-fire Lilywhites boss knows it’s win or bust in Europe in terms of saving the 15th-placed Premier League side’s underwhelming season.
It can still be one to remember and they are now into the final four in the Europa League after producing one of the best displays of the campaign.
It’s the second major European semi-final Spurs have reached in the last seven years (alongside the 2019 UCL semi-final).
