Danny Rohl is embarking on just his second managerial role at Rangers, and has a big task ahead of him to overcome their terrible start to the season. Rohl, who has previously worked with Ralf Rangnick, Hansi Flick and Ralph Hassenhuttl, is taking inspiration and his teachings from all three figures in order to thrive in the high-pressure environment at Ibrox.

New Rangers head coach Danny Rohl is taking inspiration from Hansi Flick and Ralf Rangnick as he embarks on a new journey in Glasgow.

Rohl, who left Sheffield Wednesday in July, was appointed at the Scottish Premiership giants earlier this week and will take charge for the first time against Brann in Norway in the UEFA Europa League, a game that will be live on TNT Sports and discovery+ on Thursday night.

The 36-year-old worked under Flick at Bayern Munich and with the German national side, and also has coaching experience under Rangnick as well as working with Ralph Hassenhuttl at both RB Leipzig and Southampton.

"I think as a manager you will learn every day," Rohl said. "I learned something about my team today and tomorrow I will learn something about my players from the match. From my previous managers I learned different things.

"Hansi showed me a lot about leading a group, and leading big players, how you have to handle this, how you have to feel them.

"I think from Ralf Rangnick I learned about the idea how you want to play, intensity, pressing, transition moments."

He continued: "From Ralph Hasenhuttl I took some parts of how you can build up relationships with supporters, the people around you. I think this is a big part of us and if you bring them together you create a good environment."

The club have won just once in the league and are in sixth place, 13 points off leaders Hearts and eight behind their great rivals Celtic.

With experience in must-win and high-pressure environments like Bayern and the German national team, Rohl is no stranger to teams that are expected to not just win games, but trophies.

"I'm really proud, I'm really excited to be here," the German added.

"The last two or three days I've felt what it means to be a Rangers manager.

"And now it's about working and getting results, then we can really build up something special here."

His appointment at Sheffield Wednesday was his first managerial role, and he took the club from rock bottom of the Championship to safety, before guiding them to a mid-table finish the following season.

That transformation was under trying financial circumstances, and he has now been given his chance in Glasgow.

"I'm a manager who likes to make bold and brave decisions, on and off the pitch," Rohl admitted.

"I think this is important to understand, and this is what I want to see from my team as well.

"If we go on the pitch we have to be brave and not scared, because if you're scared then it's difficult to play attacking football.

"I want to improve the players on the football side but also on the human side because I still believe if you're a good human being, you have a good mindset and have belief."
