Struggling Nottingham Forest travel to Porto for a Thursday evening clash against the Portuguese side, who are enjoying a much more successful season.

Forest have dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche as permanent managers so far this season as they look to secure Premier League safety, and they currently sit in 16th spot, not yet assured of survival for the upcoming campaign. They nevertheless find themselves in a UEFA Europa League quarter-final.

Their current boss, Vitor Pereira, managed Porto over a decade ago as part of a peripatetic career that most recently took him to Wolverhampton Wanderers before he left the club last year.

Now in place at the City Ground, he now must weigh up if he will risk his senior players such as Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson in a tournament that could bring fatigue and injuries.

Porto, however, may have no such concerns. Sitting top of the Portuguese table, they have lost just once in the league. They are five points clear of nearest rival Sporting, though the Lisbon club have a game in hand.

The return leg between Porto and Forest takes place on Thursday, April 16, at the City Ground.
