Ollie Watkins hit his 100th goal for Aston Villa as Unai Emery's men booked their spot in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals with a crushing 4-0 win over Bologna at Villa Park.

Villa will face Nottingham Forest in the first all-English semi-final in this tournament since 1973 when they travel to the City Ground on April 30, with the return leg at Villa Park on May 7.

Leading 3-1 from the quarter-final first leg in Italy, the home side were dominant from early on against the outclassed Serie A team.

Watkins became Villa's all-time European scorer on 10 goals when he finished off a fine attacking move as he tapped home from close range from a Morgan Rogers pass on 16 minutes.

Visiting centre-half Martin Vitik was then harshly penalised by VAR for a handball in the box on 23 minutes, but goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia made a fine stop diving to his right to deny Rogers from the spot.

It meant little with Emiliano Buendia adding the second on 26 minutes after the visitors were caught napping from a throw-in.

Rogers then drove home the third from a John McGinn pass on 39 minutes before Ezri Konsa swivelled to thump the fourth into the net in the final minute from a Tammy Abraham corner in a resounding 7-1 aggregate triumph.

Fellow former European champions Forest reached their first continental semi-final in 42 years with a 1-0 win over Porto for a 2-1 aggregate success.

"It was a brilliant performance, we needed to get the first goal, they’re a dangerous team away from home", said the Scotland midfielder. "They’ve shown that over the years but to get that first goal in a great first half, gets us into a semi-final, delighted."

On Watkins scoring 100 goals: "Delighted for Ollie, it’s a great achievement for a massive club. You can see he’s delighted at the end."

On Morgan Rogers’ goal: "He’ll be disappointed with the penalty, but sometimes when you're that age and you have that expectation on you,.

"He’s a big player for Villa and England, sometimes take small dips in form, but he’s a big player for us, he’s a leader in the group and he showed he can bounce back from disappointing moments.

"We’ll need him until the end of the season."

Konsa with the last action of the match as he turned to slam the shot into the net from the Abraham corner. So good on the night. So slick. 4-0 on night for a 7-1 aggregate triumph.

Might as well add a fourth for the night as Ezri Konsa turns in the box from a corner to hammer the fourth into the net. Happy days are here again.

Brilliant piece of defending to get in ahead of Orsolini, who was looking to tap home from close range.

"There's not many that haven't played well in this Villa side tonight. Almost perfect performance in terms of managing the game."

Torbjørn Heggem replaces Nicolò Casale,, who is carrying an injury as he departs Villa Park.

Orsolini with a dangerous cross into the heart of the area, but Konsa is up to head the ball before Martinez grabs it. Digne then prompts a stop by Ravaglia at the other end.

Not much point really with the game done and dusted. Meanwhile, Amadou Onana gets a standing ovation as he is replaced by Lamare Bogarde.

This time it is Bologna who reach for their bench. Jens Odgaard replaces Santiago Castro for the Italian team.

Jadon Sancho replaces Morgan Rogers for the home side with Douglas Luiz replacing Tielemans.

Trying to at least pluck a consolation goal from this sobering evening as Castro just fails to connect with the Orsolini cross.

Which would set us up for a semi-final clash between the two former European Cup winners. Semis on April 30 and May 7.

Nikola Moro with a hopeful effort from distance, but pretty tame in the end as Martinez clasps the effort with some ease. Kind of symbolic of the match.

Has won this trophy four times in his career and it is difficult to argue Villa won't bring this home for a fifth time next month.
