HUDSON-ODOI SETTLES NERVES AS FOREST EDGE THROUGH TRICKY SECOND LEG TO REACH LAST 16
Nottingham Forest survived a scare as they booked their place in the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League despite a 2-1 second-leg defeat to Fenerbahce at the City Ground.
Vitor Pereira made a host of changes with one eye on Sunday’s Premier League clash at Brighton but Forest’s 3-0 first-leg cushion was reduced on 22 minutes when Kerem Akturkoglu fired home a breakaway opener.

It led to a nervy finish to the first period with Akturkoglu firing a good opportunity wide before Sidiki Cherif’s effort was well stopped by Stefan Ortega.
Pereira turned to his bench and brought on a quartet of his big guns from the restart, but the visitors stunned the hosts seconds later as Akturkoglu converted what seemed like a soft penalty awarded after he fell under minimal contact.

However, substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi averted any concerns of a Forest collapse when he collected Ola Aina’s deep cross and fired a low strike into the far corner 22 minutes from time.
Igor Jesus and Omari Hutchinson had chances to level on the night, but it was academic in the end as Forest saw out the rest of the game to triumph 4-2 on aggregate.
The Tricky Trees will now play either Midtjylland or Real Betis in the last 16 with the draw mapping out the rest of the competition set to take place on Friday.
