MBAPPE MOVES MADRID BACK ABOVE BARCA TO LA LIGA SUMMIT
Kylian Mbappe sent Real Madrid back to the La Liga summit after an unconvincing 1-0 win over nine-man Getafe.
The forward bagged his 10th league goal of the season late on at Estadio Coliseum, where the hosts had Allan Nyom and Alex Sancris sent off.
Madrid were seeking an 11th win in 12 La Liga matches and carried the greater attacking threat during the first half.
Mbappe, Rodrygo and David Alaba all called David Soria into action, while Aurelien Tchouameni fired narrowly over from distance.
Despite Madrid continuing to push for the opening goal after the break, Getafe dug deep to keep their opponents at bay.
However, their hard work was undone in the 77th minute when, 44 seconds after coming on, Nyom was shown a straight red card for catching Vinicius Junior in the face with a trailing arm.
Xabi Alonso's side capitalised on their numerical advantage just three minutes later. Arda Guler turned and threaded a neat throughball into Mbappe, who found the back of the net via the post.
Sancris followed Nyom down the tunnel soon after, receiving a second yellow card for tripping Vinicius.
Yet, the hosts almost snatched a dramatic equaliser right at the death, with Thibaut Courtois forced to deny Abu Kamara from close range, and preserve his side's narrow victory.

LATE, LATE SHOW SENDS MADRID TOP
Real Madrid return to La Liga's summit 24 hours after they were replaced by Barcelona, who beat Girona 2-1 on Saturday.
Xabi Alonso's side did not make it easy, though, as they struggled to find the breakthrough at Estadio Coliseum.
It was only when Allan Nyom was sent off that Los Blancos fully capitalised - albeit, almost immediately - with Mbappe's 10th league goal of the season eventually proving enough to settle the contest.
Getafe, who have lost each of the last eight league meetings between the sides, saw their misery compounded later on when Alex Sancris was also given his marching orders.

FREE-KICK
Madrid have the ball exactly where they want it after Rico trips Mbappe near the corner flag.
That will run the clock down a bit more, and the visitors won't be rushing to take this free-kick.

STOPPAGE TIME
The fourth official indicates a further seven minutes will be played at the end of this game.
Soon after, Madrid go in search of the second goal and the ball is cut back to the edge of the area for Vinicius, who fires a first-time effort well over.

ANOTHER RED CARD
Getafe are down to nine men!
Already on a yellow card, Alex Sancris stupidly clips the back of Vinicius' ankle after the ball had gone.
The referee subsequently sends him for an early bath.
Contact was minimal and Vinicius did make the most of it, but the Getafe man should have known better.

GOAL!!! GETAFE 0-1 REAL MADRID (MBAPPE)
Madrid capitalise on their numerical advantage almost immediately!
Arda Guler has acres of space to turn into and slip the ball through for Mbappe, who just about stays onside.

RED CARD
No sooner on than off!
Having only been on the pitch for a matter of seconds, Nyom is given his marching orders.
Attempting to block off the run of Vinicius, he catches the Madrid winger in the face.
It does appear accidental, but can arguably still equate to violent conduct.
The hosts must now play out the remainder of this clash with 10 men.

The visitors look the more likely to snatch all three points.
However, the longer this remains goalless, Getafe's hopes of getting something will increase.
