REPORT AS REAL MADRID WIN THRILLER

Real Madrid moved to within four points of Barcelona in the La Liga title race with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid.

With Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham fit enough only for the bench, Real fell behind when Ademola Lookman struck after 33 minutes.

But Vinicius Junior stepped up in their absence to level from the spot six minutes after the restart, before Federico Valverde fired them ahead two minutes later.

A rocket from Nahuel Molina levelled the scores for Diego Simeone’s side but Vinicius struck again in the 72nd minute to restore Real’s lead.

Valverde was later shown a straight red but 10-man Real Madrid held on for a crucial victory.
