It is the second job in management for Davide, following on from his five months in charge of Botafogo in Brazil last year.
Davide, who started his coaching career in 2016, has certainly learned from the best, working alongside his father Carlo at Napoli, Bayern Munich, Everton and Real Madrid.
He is currently assistant to Carlo with the Brazil team, helping the nation to the last 16 following victory over Japan, and he will take over at Lille following this summer's World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico.
A statement from Lille read: "LOSC today announced the appointment of Davide Ancelotti as first-team coach.
"The 36-year-old Italian manager, who has worked with some of the world's biggest clubs ‌and national teams, has signed a two-year contract."
Davide said: "I'm very proud and happy. It's an honour to represent Lille.
"They are a serious, ambitious, competitive club who are regularly playing European football."
Lille president Olivier Letang welcomed the news, saying: ”Davide is a consummate professional, possessing all the qualities and skills of a modern coach.

”I have known him for many years and have closely followed his progress at the highest level, in the wake of the legendary Carlo Ancelotti. His vision of football and his approach to coaching are both rigorous and highly relevant.
”We were very impressed by his energy and determination, and by his maturity and experience. We are convinced that he is ready and has all the necessary skills to lead and develop LOSC's sporting project, thanks to his technical abilities and experience as well as the human values he embodies.
”Davide aligns with our values. He shares them and is also intimately familiar with the project we have been developing for LOSC for over five years now.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome Davide and wish him a warm welcome to Les Dogues.”
Davide will succeed Bruno Genesio at Lille after he and the club "decided not to continue their collaboration" at the end of his two-year contract.
Genesio led Lille to a third-placed finish in the French top division last season, ensuring UEFA Champions League football for the club in the 2026/27 campaign.
Carlo Ancelotti is a name revered across the football world for his immense achievements.
He has won a record five European Cups as manager, two with AC Milan followed by three with Real Madrid.
Carlo has also won a host of other honours at home and abroad in his three decades in management.
Before that, a stellar playing career included winning two European Cups with AC Milan and representing Italy at two FIFA World Cups.
Now comes one of Carlo's toughest tasks, trying to lead Brazil to a sixth World Cup crown.
