Lionel Messi added another historic milestone to his list of accolades on Wednesday. The 38-year-old became the second ever men's player to score 900 career goals, joining Cristiano Ronaldo in the exclusive club. Messi fired home from close range to open the scoring for Inter Miami against Nashville SC in the second leg of their last 16 clash in the Concacaf Champions Cup.

Lionel Messi scored the 900th goal of his professional career on Wednesday, joining Cristiano Ronaldo as the only men’s players to ever reach that milestone.

The 38-year-old reached the mark during Inter Miami’s second leg against Nashville SC in the last 16 of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

It was a trademark Messi goal, picking up the ball deep in the Nashville box before cutting onto his left foot and firing across goal into the corner to give Miami the lead.

Ronaldo is the only other men’s player to reach 900 career goals. According to the Associated Press, the Portuguese needed 100 more matches than Messi did to hit the milestone.

At the time of writing, Ronaldo has 965 goals in 1,309 games for club and country. He has made it clear his desire to score 1,000 goals.

Messi scored the majority of his 900 goals with Barcelona, bagging 672 in 778 games during his time in Spain.

He has added 32 in 75 games for Paris Saint-Germain, as well as 115 in 196 appearances for the Argentine national team.

Messi's goal on Wednesday was his 81st in 94 games for Inter Miami.

Messi is an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and is Major League Soccer’s back-to-back MVP since moving to Florida.
