LIVERPOOL SUFFER RARE OFF-DAY AS FULHAM SECURE IMPRESSIVE WIN OVER LEADERS
Liverpool missed the chance to move 14 points clear at the top of the table after suffering just a second Premier League defeat of the season in a 3-2 reversal at European-chasing Fulham.
Arne Slot’s men were hoping to take full of advantage of Arsenal’s draw at Everton on Saturday, but produced an error-strewn display on their way to a first away loss of the campaign.
Alexis Mac Allister’s 14th-minute thunderbolt had put the visitors in front, but Ryan Sessegnon levelled within nine minutes when he swept home Curtis Jones’ miscued clearance.
Alex Iwobi then took advantage of a howler from Andy Robertson to fire in a deflected second on 32 minutes before Rodrigo Muniz expertly turned Virgil van Dijk to rifle in the hosts’ third five minutes later.
Liverpool improved following the interval, but Diogo Jota and Mo Salah missed gilt-edged chances before substitute Luis Diaz set up a late push for an equaliser.
It did not materialise and the result means the Merseysiders remain 11 points clear of second-place Arsenal, but still need 11 points from their final seven matches to guarantee they will be crowned champions for a record-equalling 20th time.
Fulham rise to eighth and remain in the hunt to clinch a European berth next term.
Liverpool now have a week to lick their wounds prior to a home match with West Ham on Sunday while Fulham visit Bournemouth a week on Monday in a clash of two sides battling for Europe.

LIVERPOOL LOSE IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE SEPTEMBER
Liverpool missed the chance to move within eight points of the Premier League title as their unbeaten 26-match run came crashing to a halt.
It is the Merseysiders’ first PL loss on the road this term and ends any hope of becoming just the fifth team in English top-flight history to go an entire campaign unbeaten away from home.
Fulham bounced back from a run of three defeats in their last five PL outings to reignite their quest to qualify for Europe with a first home win over Liverpool since 2011.
