Leicester City v Brentford live: Premier League latest as visitors seal dominant 4-0 win to pile more misery on Foxes

Brentford eased to a dominant 4-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power to consign the Foxes to a record sixth straight home Premier League defeat.

The home side started brightly and had a big chance to take the lead through Jamie Vardy but capitulated after falling behind to Yoane Wissa’s strike in the 17th minute.

That opened the floodgates and The Bees gratefully took advantage. Bryan Mbuemo pounced on more poor defending to double Brentford’s lead with a stunning strike before turning provider for Christian Norgaard to make it 3-0 just past the half-hour mark.

Cue boos and a mass exodus as fans made their displeasure known. A win would have lifted the Foxes out of the relegation zone but any hope of that had faded before half-time.

The second period was a tighter affair but Brentford continued to find success going forward and eventually got their fourth in the 89th minute.

Mbuemo bullied his way through a challenge to force a save out of Mads Hermansen, and the rebound fell to Fabio Carvalho, who found the corner with a simple finish to cap off a thumping win for the visitors and a harrowing evening for the hosts.

It’s a fourth straight away win for Brentford that takes them above Brighton into 10th, while it’s a 10th defeat in 11 for Leicester.

The Foxes remain in 19th on 17 points and haven’t scored at home in their last six Premier League fixtures dating back to December 8.

Brentford will be looking to build on their momentum against Everton next time out, while Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side face a crucial relegation clash away to West Ham before meetings with Chelsea and the two Manchester sides.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy said: "We have to acknowledge that it's a huge step back. There was hope after certain performances.

"The beginning of the game was hopeful with three chances, Jamie [Vardy] had two and [Woyo] Coulibaly had a shot from close range, where we have to go [one] up. That could have changed the game.

"But the first goal from them was really efficient. It was a well-organised structured team with great physique. In the end, after the bright start, we were never in the game. Then the game was done.

"Overall, the difference between the level of Brentford and us today was big. The first 10, 15 minutes, after that they showed they were big steps ahead of us at the moment."

"I would go so far to say it's a front four! Mikkel Damsgaard is the one that really gets them going," he told Sky Sports.

"The front four, the way they interact, the relationship, the more they play, they have all the ability we need.

"A big thing is that he is fit. The first season he came back for being out for almost a year, he had to get up to pace. The second season, he was four months out. Now we have a rhythm, he's clicking with the team, it's nice to see."

He added: "I think we've been fairly consistent in performances. We had one terrible, bad one to Fulham in the early stages of the season. This is the first time we've won two games in a row, it's a little bit strange!

"We are in an upward curve and hopefully we can continue that."

Speaking to Sky Sports, Wissa said: "I'm very happy with the win. The first 10 miniutes we could have scored and Mark [Flekken] kept us in the game. But this is a performance to be proud of.

"I know they are not in top shape and we are and as soon as we scored we started to control the game from the first minute to the end. We wanted to control the game, keep a clean sheet and get the three points."

Asked if Brentford can push for Europe, he added: "Why not? We just need to keep winning, that is the aim. We can aim for top 10 and after that let's see."

The Foxes have now lost their last six home league games, failing to score a goal during that run.

Brentford move into 10th with a deserved three points and, if truth be told, could have won by more.

That’s now six straight home defeats in the Premier League, something that has never happened before. To make matters worse, they have failed to score in that time.

There will be three minutes of added time. In the second, Brentford stream forward and threaten to get a fifth.

Brentford do get their fourth. Mbuemo gets the better of Vestergaard but his shot is saved by Hermansen.

The ball rebounds into the middle of the Leicester box and ends up at the feet of Carvalho, who finds the corner to cap off a horrendous evening for the hosts.

Brentford make their final change, with Schade replaced by Yunus Konak.

Mavididi finds Buonanotte on the edge of the Brentford area and he takes a touch and whips a fizzing left-footed shot towards goal.

Flekken looks beaten but the ball flies just a fraction wide of the post. He has been the only real positive for the Foxes tonight.

Okoli looks to be struggling so he is removed and replaced by Conor Coady.

For Brentford, new signing Michael Kayode is on for Ajer.

Through the torrential rain, the Brentford fans can be heard chanting "we want four". Will they get their wish?

Van Nistelrooy makes another change, with Oliver Skipp replacing Ndidi.

Brentford look so comfortable. Wissa, in particular, is running rings around some of his opponents.

He gets the ball in the box and creates some space for himself to shoot but it is well blocked.

More Brentford changes as Janelt and Damsgaard are replaced by Fabio Carvalho and Paris Maghoma.

Wissa forces his way through Kristiansen and Mavididi and fires a low cross into the danger area. If anyone was alive to it, it would have been a simple tap-in for 4-0, but the ball scoots through everyone and out for a throw.

Brentford are very close to a fourth. Mbuemo whips another superb ball in and Yarmoliuk's header looks set to find the net, but Hermansen reacts superbly to make the save.
