Wolves 0-1 Arsenal: Sub Riccardo Calafiori fires 10-man Gunners to victory after both sides see red at Molineux

Arsenal remain six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after sub Riccardo Calafiori came off the bench to fire a superb winner in a merited 1-0 victory at relegation-haunted Wolves.

Mikel Arteta's side were rocked when Myles Lewis-Skelly was controversially sent off for a late challenge on Matt Doherty two minutes before half-time with a straight red card.

But the visiting side dominated the second period at Molineux and grabbed the lead via the finishing quality of former Bologna left-back Calafiori after Joao Gomes was red carded for a second booking with a cynical foul on Jurriën Timber on 70 minutes.

With the numbers evened up, Calafiori punished a poor headed clearance by Nelson Semedo to rifle a half-volley low into the corner of the home net.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya enjoyed a confident display for the visitors, who have played one game more than Arne Slot's league leaders.

But it was another bitter afternoon for Wolves in slumping to a fourth straight defeat. They remain just outside the relegation zone on goal difference from Ipswich, who lost 4-1 at Liverpool.

They are heading for a fourth straight defeat unless they can pull a rabbit out of the hat in the dying moments of added time. Which looks highly unlikely.
