Aston Villa missed out on three points as they were unable to beat 10-player Ipswich Town, drawing 1-1 at Villa Park. Meanwhile, Fulham beat high-flying Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage, while Bournemouth continued their push for European football with victory over Southampton and Brentford earned a hard-fought win over Graham Potter's West Ham at the London Stadium.

Aston Villa missed out on three points as Unai Emery's side failed to beat 10-player Ipswich Town at Villa Park on Saturday, drawing 1-1.

Things looked to be going Villa's way as Ipswich's Axel Tuanzebe received a second yellow five minutes before half-time.

But the visitors dug in and they opened the scoring in the second half, with Liam Delap converting.

Omari Hutchinson teed up the 22-year-old with a low cross and the forward was able to guide it into the corner.

Ipswich were unable to hold the lead, though, and on 69 minutes Emery's side drew level.

Marcus Rashford had his hands in a Villa goal as his stunning free-kick ricocheted off the crossbar and into the path of Ollie Watkins, who tapped home from close range.

It is a point for Ipswich in the relegation battle as they aim to leapfrog Wolves.

Fulham make ground in race for Europe

Fulham picked up a win as they beat third-place Nottingham Forest 2-1 at Craven Cottage as the hunt for European football begins to get congested.

The Cottagers got off to a flying start as Emile Smith Rowe opened the scoring with an excellent finish, making the most of some fine work from Adama Traore in the build-up.

It was then, perhaps predictably, Chris Wood who dragged Forest level, netting his 18th goal of the season with a lovely curler from Morgan Gibbs-White's pass.

Calvin Bassey restored Fulham's lead on 62 minutes. From a corner, Raul Jimenez managed to nod the ball towards the back past where Bassey lay in wait, out-jumping the Forest defence and beating Matz Sels.

The Cottagers held onto their lead, riding out the final stages after Nuno Espirito Santo made changes.

Bournemouth continue top-four charge

Bournemouth cruised to a comfortable win at St Mary's, handing Southampton their 20th Premier League defeat of the season as The Cherries continue to surge towards the top four.

Two goals in two minutes in the first half gave Andoni Iraola's side full control over their hosts.

Dango Ouattara guided home a sumptuous delivery from Ryan Christie on 14 minutes, and Christie followed up his assist with a stunning strike.

Southampton managed to gather themselves in the second half and pulled a goal back when Kamaldeen Sulemana produced a great strike inside the box.

But the hopes of netting an equaliser soon faded as Marcus Tavernier scored Bournemouth's third of the day, wrapping up the win for a side chasing Manchester City in fourth.

Brentford pile misery on Potter's Hammers

Kevin Schade's first-half goal was the difference maker as Brentford claimed a hard-fought Premier League victory at West Ham, piling more misery on Graham Potter's Hammers.

The Bees have now won three consecutive Premier League away matches for the first time in their history, while West Ham have lost three of their last four matches.

Brentford flew out of the gates and Schade netted after just four minutes to put West Ham on the back-foot at the London Stadium.

Schade's first shot was kept out by Alphonse Areola but the German forced it home from a tight angle on the rebound.

Brentford thought they had a second after Yoane Wissa swept home, but West Ham were given a reprieve as VAR ruled the goal out for offside in the build up.

Even with the hosts introducing on-loan Brighton forward Evan Ferguson and upping their tempo, they were unable to break through a sturdy Brentford defence.

Marmoush stars for City and Merino rescues Gunners

Pep Guardiola managed to invoke the Manchester City of old as they beat Newcastle 4-0 to move up to fourth in the Premier League. Omar Marmoush netted a 30-minute hat-trick at the Etihad in a dominant win.

Earlier in the day, Mikel Merino came off the bench to hit a late match-winning double as Arsenal closed the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool with a 2-0 win at relegation-haunted Leicester.
