Ruben Amorim has stressed that captain Bruno Fernandes "loves" Manchester United and will stay should the club prove they are "changing". Fernandes appeared open to leaving United in the wake of their UEFA Europa League final loss against Tottenham, should the club want to "cash in". The Portugal international has since been linked with a transfer to the Saudi Pro League.

Ruben Amorim has insisted that Bruno Fernandes "loves" Manchester United and will stay should the club prove they are "changing".
United take on Aston Villa on Sunday in the last game of The Red Devils' dismal Premier League campaign - live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Amorim’s men are currently languishing in 16th in the Premier League on 39 points, while Wednesday’s bruising UEFA Europa League final defeat to Tottenham confirmed that the Old Trafford club will finish the campaign trophyless and without European football next season.
In the wake of the Europa League final loss, United talisman Fernandes suggested he would be open to leaving Old Trafford should the club need to "cash in".
Despite Fernandes having been linked with a big-money transfer to the Saudi Pro League, Amorim insisted that the Portugal international would be willing to stay provided United prove they are moving in a positive direction.
"It’s important for Bruno to see that we are changing a lot of things in our club," Amorim exclusively told TNT Sports. "The behaviour, the everyday organisation, the pace of training.
"All these things, if he sees that we are doing that across all levels, he will want to stay at this club. He loves this club.
"That is the most important thing - not the Champions League. He wants to win with this club and he trains and behaves at a high level.
"Everybody here needs to do that - he will be here for that."
Amorim: ‘Toughest season of my career’
Amorim admitted that the campaign had been the "toughest" of his career, but insisted that it would provide valuable lessons for the future.
The 40-year-old took over at United in November with the club 13th in the table.
They have since slipped three places in the standings and been knocked out of three cup competitions.

Amorim said: "I’m really glad I arrived six months before the new season as it’s going to give me a lot of information and I will take responsibility for some actions that we will take in the summer.
"We suffered a lot - I don’t like to say I suffered a lot - but we suffered a lot. It was really hard sometimes.

"I think what’s clear to everybody is that it was the toughest time in my career, even as a player. It was really tough.
"The results were hard to deal with. The disappointment of our fans was hard to deal with.
"But it will make us stronger. I know it’s hard to understand, but the club will be in a better way next season because of all the changes.
"You can not see it in the results, you can not see it on the pitch, but we will be a better club next season."
