Andy Robertson has posted an emotional tribute to his Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian announced on Tuesday that he would leave the club at the end of the season.
Robertson and Salah signed for Liverpool in the same summer transfer window before the 2017/18 season, both going on to become vital cogs in a successful team.
With Robertson at left-back and Salah on the right wing, they both played key parts in Liverpool’s two Premier League titles and UEFA Champions League triumph.
And in an Instagram post, Robertson said it was a ”joy to watch and be part of” Salah’s time at Anfield.
”Mohamed, Thank you. Nine of the best years of our lives with amazing memories on and off the pitch,” the Scottish international wrote.
”Watching you become the best at what you do and become one of the best to ever have worn the Liverpool shirt has been a joy to watch and be part of.
”Your mentality is second to none and a lot of people could take note. You have pushed yourself every single day and always demanded more from yourself and others.”
Robertson continued: ”A pleasure sharing the pitch with you for so long but even more so being able to call you a friend.
”You deserve a send off that reflects your status at LFC - the greatest. Second to none.”
Liverpool are still in the Champions League and will face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals in April.
Other Liverpool players, past and present, paid their own tributes to Salah by reacting to his post on social media. Among those to show their appreciation for Salah’s career at Liverpool included current club captain Virgil van Dijk, Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister, and former skipper Jordan Henderson.
Ibrahima Konate, meanwhile, called Salah ”The King".

”Really sad. But we know you gave it all. Be proud of yourself.”
