'The decision is made and done' - Brazilian star Casemiro will not reverse Manchester United exit

In bad news for Manchester United fans, midfielder Casemiro has ruled out an extension to his Old Trafford career after saying his exit decision is "made and done". The Brazilian has enjoyed a sparkling run of form under caretaker boss Michael Carrick as he enters his final matches at the club, with the 34-year-old set to move on after four years with the club.

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is not open to reversing his Old Trafford exit decision.

The ex-Real Madrid great announced in January that he will leave the club at the end of the season after a four-year stay in the northwest.

Casemiro, 34, has been linked with summer moves to the Saudi Pro League, notably Al Ittihad, as well as Major League Soccer clubs in the United States.

But after his excellent form in the middle of the park - where he has enjoyed his best goalscoring season for the club to date - United fans have pleaded for the Brazilian to stay.

”I am still enjoying it a lot [in Manchester],” Casemiro said.

”I believe the announcement is now done. It is huge, the affection that the fans have shown towards me.

”But I do really believe the decision is made and done. I am enjoying myself right now. I believe it will be some difficult moments, these [last] games at Manchester United.”

Although his tenure in Manchester has not been the most decorated period of his career, having won five Champions League titles at Real Madrid, he has continued adding to his trophy haul in England, winning the League Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

Man Utd have only the Premier League and UEFA Champions League qualification to play for this season, with only eight more games pencilled in before the end of the season.

Casemiro has seven goals in 30 appearances this campaign, with the midfielder enjoying his farewell tour in a rejuvenated side under caretaker boss Michael Carrick.

Since taking over from Ruben Amorim in January, Carrick has led United to seven wins - almost the same number Amorim managed until that point (eight).

Carrick knows the club well and played in Casemiro's position for 12 years between 2006 and 2018.

”Above all, Michael [Carrick] is a specialist in my position on the field; he was a truly great player. That makes everything much easier and he is always talking to us," Casemiro said about his current head coach.

”I feel like we are in a good dynamic right now in Manchester and my objective now is to get the club back into the Champions League.”

This season, with notable wins over rivals Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, Carrick has hauled the club up to third in the Premier League table.

They are six points clear of Liverpool in fifth and have a seven-point cushion over Chelsea in sixth, with fifth-place potentially enough for Champions League football next season given English clubs' performance in the coefficient rankings.

The Red Devils are leading the charge for qualification, with Arsenal and Man City battling for the title, while the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa are battling for the remaining positions.

Man Utd's next game is against fierce rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford, before they head to Chelsea and then welcome Brentford and Liverpool to Old Trafford.

They finish with an away trip to Sunderland, before hosting Nottingham Forest in their final game at Old Trafford and will wrap up their campaign - set to be Casemiro's final game - away at Brighton & Hove Albion.
