SUPER-MENDI FIRES ARSENAL TO VICTORY AS ANGE OPENS FOREST REIGN WITH DEFEAT
Martin Zubimendi struck a surprise brace as Arsenal romped to a 3-0 victory that ensured Ange Postecoglou’s first match in charge of Nottingham Forest ended in defeat.
The home side took the lead on 32 minutes when the former Real Sociedad midfielder unleashed a spectacular volley beyond Matz Sels after the visitors failed to completely clear a right-wing corner.
Arsenal doubled their tally within seconds of the restart as home debutant Eberechi Eze set up Viktor Gyokeres to notch his third goal for the club.
Chris Wood almost pulled one back with an improvised chest attempt that came back off the crossbar, but Mikel Arteta’s men were always in charge and made sure of the points when Zubimendi nodded in a third 11 minutes from time.

Next up, Arsenal kick off their UEFA Champions League at Athletic Club on Tuesday prior to hosting Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday. Forest visit Swansea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and are at Burnley on Saturday.

THE TNT SPORTS EXPERTS REACT TO A DOMINANT ARSENAL PERFORMANCE
MARTIN KEOWN: "That was a really scary show of strength from Arsenal today. They were obviously without the quality of player like Havertz and Saka who were not available.
"That was a problem for Arsenal last season - but not this (season).
"Madueke, Eze - both came in today and were outstanding.
"This man, Gykoeres as well. What about that second goal – so direct. Forward pass and this man in the box is a real predator.
"At the moment Arsenal are looking so strong."
PETER CROUCH: "(Arsenal have) signed some great players. Obviously Eze and Madueke. At times they were unplayable. They could afford the luxury of resting Rice.
"Zubmendi and Merino especially, were so comfortable in there - such great technical footballers. They gave a really good account of themselves and it was a great day for Arsenal."
