Arsenal 4-1 Tottenham result - Eberechi Eze nets hat-trick as Gunners move six points clear at the top of the Premier League with dominant derby win

Eberechi Eze netted a hat-trick as Arsenal moved six points clear at the Premier League summit courtesy of a 4-1 victory over Tottenham in a one-sided North London derby at Emirates Stadium.

The visitors deployed a back five as they looked to contain and frustrate but were unlocked on 36 minutes when Leandro Trossard brilliantly polished off Mikel Merino’s superb, lofted pass.

The Gunners then doubled their advantage prior to the interval when Eze followed up quick feet with a ferocious low strike from just inside the area.

The former Crystal Palace playmaker, who almost joined Tottenham in the summer, added a second within a minute of the restart with another rasping effort from the edge of the box.

Spurs pulled one back when Richarlison beat David Raya with a magnificent long-range lob on 55 minutes, but Eze completed his hat-trick 14 minutes from time to become the first Arsenal player to net a treble against Tottenham in the Premier League era.

The result sees Mikel Arteta’s men pull six points clear of second-placed Chelsea, who they face at Stamford Bridge next Sunday. Tottenham are 11 points further back from their neighbours in ninth, having lost their first away match in the league this season.

Next up, Arsenal host Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday while Tottenham are away to holders Paris Saint-Germain, with both clashes live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

"Yeah, that’s a good one man. Enjoyable day. Happy to help the team and to win today. It’s special, you know," he told Sky Sports after being asked if that was the best moment of his career.

He continued: "It’s special man. I’m grateful. I prayed for it today – a hat-trick – and I got it, so I’m grateful to God. That was the prayer today and God gave it to me so I’m so grateful.

"All my family is here and it makes it even more special (to do it) in front of them."

Asked about a possible summer move to Spurs prior to choosing Arsenal, he said: "Let’s not talk about that."

On which one was his favourite goal: "They are all good… maybe the second one. Just the timing of it. All of them are good for me, we work on that process (for me) to get in the position.

"Words can’t explain this one today."

"It’s a brilliant day for Arsenal. They have won a derby. They have won a big match in a big weekend where others have faltered," said Gary Neville on Sky Sports.

Spurs are caught by a lightning break and after Trossard picked out his teammate, Eze took aim and curved a fine shot beyond Vicario from the edge of the box.

Rice's corner from the left appears to deceive Vicario, but the 'keeper recovers to pluck the ball out of the air after it looked certain Saliba would nod in from close-range.

Eze skies a long-range and somewhat hopeful volley way over the bar after Rice's left-wing corner was cleared into his path.
