VILLA BAG FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON AS WATKINS BREAKS GOAL DROUGHT
Aston Villa got their first Premier League win of the season as they came from behind to beat Fulham 3-1 at Villa Park.
Raul Jimenez had given the visitors an early lead with a well-placed header but soon went off injured as Fulham's momentum stalled.
Ollie Watkins lobbed Bernd Leno to equalise for his first goal of the season before Villa bagged two goals in as many minutes early in the second half to take control.
John McGinn arrowed into the bottom corner from the edge of the area before Emiliano Buendia converted a deflected cross to make it 3-1.
Villa saw out the win with ease to move out of the relegation zone. while Fulham slipped to 10th, ending a three-match winning streak.

SESSEGNON: IT'S JUST POOR DEFENDING FROM US
Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon, speaking to Sky Sports, said: "Going in at 1-1, it was a decent result at that point but we collapsed.
"For us to concede a third straight away, it's disappointing.
"There is no real explanation. It's just poor. Poor defending from us."

BUENDIA: I WORKED HARD TO BE HERE AGAIN
Villa's super sub Emiliano Buendia, speaking to Sky Sports, said: "It felt really good. Coming on at half-time, I tried to help the team as fast as possible."
On returning to the squad after leaving on loan, he said: "It is an amazing feeling right now.
"First Premier League goal in years due to injury, they were low moments, but I worked hard to be here again."

TOUGH DAY ALL ROUND FOR FULHAM
Fulham started brightly but faltered as the match went on and never looked like staging a comeback when they went behind.
The day began with bad news as Marco Silva revealed both Kenny Tete and Rodrigo Muniz were absent through injury and Raul Jimenez, despite scoring, also joined the injury list.
We will wait and see what the extent of the injuries are, but with a tricky set of fixtures coming up, The Cottagers could find themselves sliding down the table over the next few weeks.

WILL VILLA USE THIS WIN TO PUSH FORWARD?
It's not quite a performance that says all of Villa's problems are solved, but it could be enough to get their season going and build their momentum.
Plenty of character, plenty of hard work and some much-needed goals, but players like Watkins and Rogers were far from their fluent best even if they did break their contribution ducks.

FULL TIME! ASTON VILLA 3-1 FULHAM
And that will be that! Villa finally have their first win of the season and move out of the relegation zone in the process.
It looked like more of the same after Raul Jimenez put Fulham ahead in the fourth minute, but three goals in 15 minutes either side of half-time swung the momentum back Villa's way, with Ollie Watkins breaking his goal drought.
Not Fulham's day today as they slip to tenth. What could be concerning is that both of their strikers are now injured but we will wait and see how serious the injuries are.

VILLA NEARLY THERE
Chukwueze scampers forward and wins a free-kick after Kamara sticks a leg out. It goes over everyone in the box though.
Back-to-back wins for Aston Villa incoming and finally they have a handful of goals to celebrate. This has been like the Villa of old today, especially in the first ten minutes of the second half.
They have also managed the game brilliantly since going ahead. Fulham have barely had a sniff.

SIX MINUTES OF ADDED TIME
Fulham will look back on the opening half hour with regret as they were well on top but couldn't extend their lead. They had two penalty appeals, but neither were clear-cut.
This game has really slowed down since Buendia's goal in the 51st minute. Villa will not care one bit.
The board goes up and there will be six minutes of added time.

COMING UP: NEWCASTLE V ARSENAL
One more match to look forward to after this and it is a biggie.
Saka starts for Arsenal as they travel to Newcastle looking to close the gap at the top after Liverpool lost yesterday.

VILLA SUBSTITUTION: MALEN AND LINDELOF ON
Chukwueze's first action is to volley wide from a long throw-in.
Now Villa shuffle their pack. Victor Lindelof comes on for Bogarde while Donyell Malen replaces Guessand.

FULHAM SUBSTITUTIONS: CHUKWUEZE AND ROBINSON ON
Fulham have a corner. What can they do from this? Nothing as Martinez catches it, then goes down, presumably to waste a bit of time.
Ryan Sessegnon's day is over. On comes Anthonee Robinson. Samuel Chukwueze is also sent on for Harry Wilson.

FULHAM IMPROVING BUT RUNNING OUT OF TIME
Sessegnon makes a good underlapping run and nearly finds Smith-Rowe in the middle but Kamara gets a good touch to send it back to Martinez.
Unai Emery is very animated on the touchline as he directs his team to see out this match. Buendia looks a bit winded after coming off second-best in a collision.
Not a good idea to go shoulder to shoulder with Calvin Bassey.

VILLA SUBSTITUTION: KAMARA ON FOR MCGINN
McGinn does come off, for Boubacar Kamara. His goal to put Villa ahead looks like it has done the job.
Kevin breaks forward but a heavy touch lets him down and the ball rolls out for a goal kick.

FULHAM FADING AS CLOCK TICKS DOWN
As things stand, Villa are up to 16th. Still a lot of work to do, but the mid-table is very congested early on.
John McGinn might need to come off, he's struggling with something. Rogers and Buendia link up well on the break but run into a wall of Fulham defenders.
Fulham really don't look like they can stage a comeback.

FULHAM SUBSTITUTIONS: KEVIN AND SMITH-ROWE ON
All Villa need to cap this off is a confidence-boosting goal for Rogers, but he is struggling with his end product today.
Buendia fires over from range, giving Fulham the chance to make their subs.
As promised, Smith-Rowe and Kevin are on for Josh King and Alex Iwobi. Iwobi has done very little today.

FULHAM SUBSTITUTIONS INCOMING
Another long ball to Watkins, who gets the ball but is forced wide. Villa nearly rework it back to him, but he can't get the shot away.
Fulham are readying some substitutions. Emile Smith-Rowe and Kevin are stripped and ready to come on.

FULHAM PUSHING FOR A WAY BACK INTO THE MATCH
You can see how much more confidence Watkins has now as he tries to play Rogers in but can't find a way past Andersen.
Castagne puts in a lovely tackle to get Fulham on the front foot, but can't keep the ball in.
On a second viewing, he doesn't get any of the ball and catches Digne on the ankle, who is still on the floor. Sore, but he should be good to continue.
