Bournemouth 3-0 Crystal Palace - Premier League result as Rayan seals win for Cherries after Junior Kroupi and Jefferson Lerma goals

Bournemouth kept their quest for European qualification on track with a composed 3-0 win over Crystal Palace, thanks to a Jefferson Lerma own goal plus strikes from Junior Kroupi and Rayan.

Marooned in familiar mid-table surroundings, Palace had nothing to play for and it showed as they misplaced a series of passes in their own half, while their season-long set-piece struggles continued, costing them the opening goal.

Evanilson rose highest to turn a corner goalwards and Lerma was unable to clear the bouncing ball, which goalkeeper Dean Henderson did manage to parry out of the goalmouth but only after it had crossed the line - by a matter of millimetres as replays showed.

Technology was called upon much more controversially 20 minutes later when VAR refused to overturn a penalty awarded for a potential Henderson trip on Marcos Senesi. The goalkeeper fumbled the ball from a corner but appeared to make minimal contact with the Argentine, yet referee Robert Jones showed little hesitation in pointing to the spot and wasn’t called to the monitor to re-assess.

Yet although Oliver Glasner could understandably feel aggrieved at the decision after Kroupi rifled home the spot-kick, it was his side’s own sloppiness that threatened to cost them time and time again, as Rayan and Evanilson in particular were treated to a string of first-half chances.

Glasner introduced Adam Wharton, Tyrick Mitchell and Ismaila Sarr at half-time and while the second half was more even, Palace never looked like getting a goal back until Rayan had taken advantage of the visitors committing numbers upfield to make the lead three.

He latched onto a well-placed David Brooks pass then fired past Henderson, and though Ismaila Sarr had two good chances and hit the post in the final 10 minutes, Bournemouth held onto their clean sheet.

After contrasting fortunes for their European qualification rivals Brentford and Brighton earlier this weekend, Bournemouth now move into sixth, a point ahead of Brentford, and as it stands they would qualify for the UEFA Champions League if Aston Villa stay fifth in the table and win the UEFA Europa League.

Meanwhile, all Crystal Palace can do is try and put this result out of their minds ahead of defending their 3-1 lead in Thursday’s UEFA Conference League semi-final second leg against Shakhtar Donetsk, live on TNT Sports and HBO Max.

Into added time now, Sarr beat the last line of defence to get Palace's best shooting opportunity of the game, but drags his shot well wide in a moment that sums up Palace's day.

It almost certainly would've been chalked off for offside, but Wharton produced a sumptuous ball for Sarr who couldn't quite turn his first-time finish the right side of the post.

The game was over as soon as Rayan rifled his shot home, and Ben Gannon-Doak gets a runout for the hosts.

Bournemouth are set to extend their Premier League unbeaten run to 15 games, which remains the best in Europe's top five leagues (only including top-flight games) - ahead of Bayern Munich's tally of 13.

Enes Unal has had limited opportunities this season, but gets another one now in place of the Brazilian who's been a constant threat for Bournemouth even if he's not made the scoresheet.

Rayan has his goal! With Palace leaving numbers forwards, Brooks masterfully plays Rayan into space on the right and he finally takes advantage, running his shot across the face of goal and past Henderson.

Chris Richards was preparing to replace him anyway, but Riad has had a tough game and it's finishing badly with an injury - though he's able to leave the pitch under his own steam.

Bournemouth burst forwards and Evanilson manages to latch onto an overhit ball from Rayan, seeming to keep the play alive for Alex Jimenez before Henderson snuffs out the danger.

And he brings on the two players that were dropped for today's game - David Brooks and Tyler Adams in place of Kroupi and Ryan Christie.

It's been a much more even second half, and time for Iraola to think about seeing out the game rather than adding to his lead.

Crystal Palace are winless in their last 99 Premier League games when trailing by two or more goals (drawn seven, lost 92) since a 3-2 win at Sunderland in September 2016 (per Opta).

That could've been game over! Tavernier skipped past a string of tackles on the left and found Evanilson, who burst into the box and dominated Lacroix, who can't dive in on a yellow card.

The Brazilian reached Kroupi who, after we hyped him up so much, dithers too long on the ball before firing an inoffensive shot. The shot wasn't necessarily the worst option but he had Rayan in space on the right and just needed to make his decision quicker.

The pace of the game has slowed after a breakneck start to the half, it's hard to call which team the next goal is going to but if it's the hosts then Kroupi could well be the man to score it.

As Brennan Johnson fires a free kick well wide of the target, to finish the housekeeping Glasner has brought on Ismaila, Adam Wharton and Tyrick Mitchell - who all started against Shakhtar Donetsk - for Yeremy Pino, Kamada and Munoz.

Tavernier and Adrien Truffert combine well on the left and the latter chips to the back post where Rayan rises highest but can't find the target.

It didn't trouble Djordje Petrovic, but it's a start! Palace recycled the ball to Strand Larsen - who's already lost twice to Bournemouth this season - and he fired straight at the keeper, after new face Tyrick Mitchell was involved in the build-up.
