Chelsea 0-3 Manchester City result: Nico O'Reilly, Marc Guehi and Jeremy Doku score to cut Arsenal's Premier League lead

Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guehi and Jeremy Doku were on target as Manchester City sealed a potentially crucial 3-0 win away to Chelsea to set alight the title race.

Pep Guardiola’s side closed the gap on leaders Arsenal to six points, after The Gunners were beaten by Bournemouth in a shock home result on Saturday.

City headed into Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge with two games in hand over Arsenal and nine points behind, knowing a win would significantly cut the gap before they clash at Etihad Stadium next week.

And City have ramped up the pressure on Mikel Arteta’s team with victory in West London, beating a sorry Chelsea side who were handed a fourth defeat in their past five games.

After a tense first half, in which City were relatively poor, Chelsea came the closest to breaking the deadlock when Marc Cucurella put the ball in the back of the net, only for it to be ruled out for offside.

But following the break, City came out with a point to prove, and just like he had in the League Cup final against Arsenal, Nico O’Reilly popped up with a crucial goal, heading City into the lead from close range.

That sparked a relentless spell for City, who quickly doubled their lead when defender Guehi was picked out by the outstanding Rayan Cherki, before slotting home with a striker’s finish.

Doku made sure of the three points when he outmuscled Moises Caicedo in midfield, before breaking into the box and thumping the ball past the helpless Robert Sanchez.

City (64 points) still have a game in hand over Arsenal (70 points) and can cut the gap to three points when they clash next weekend to set up a thrilling finish to the season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea remain in sixth place and four points off the UEFA Champions League spots.

"We knew there was a lot of pressure before this game against a good opponent," he said. "The first half was not easy. They were well-organised and we knew we had to keep on going.

"We started the second half very well, very sharp. After the first goal, the game was more open and we did well. I'm also happy we didn't concede.

"We were also focused on our own game. Winning here is not a given, so that we did it today is exceptional."

What a win for Man City, and it can't be underestimated how important that is for the title race!

The 'oles' are out as City pop the ball around like they're playing in the park.

Chelsea can't get near them. In fact, they haven't been able to get near them all half.

We're into added time at the end of the second half. This one is all but done!

Chelsea are heading for a fourth defeat in their last five games, with the 7-0 Emirates FA Cup win over Port Vale their only triumph since victory over Wrexham in the round before, back at the beginning of March.

Sanchez rolls the ball out to Caicedo, who is quickly dispossessed, before Doku breaks into the box and thrashes the ball past the Chelsea goalkeeper.

Cucurella finds Palmer with a low delivery and he takes on a first-time shot, which is deflected over the bar following a crucial tackle from Guehi.

It's been all Man City in the second half and that's the first time Chelsea have been able to set up an attack themselves.

He's gone down and it looks as though he'll have to be replaced.

Man City were pretty poor in the first half, but they came out all guns blazing after half-time and have forced their way into a comfortable lead.

It makes things very interesting at the top of the table after Arsenal's defeat on Saturday!
