Everton 2-4 Brentford result - Igor Thiago snatches hat-trick to sink Toffees

Igor Thiago stunned Everton with a hat trick to help Brentford to a 4-2 win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to go seventh in the Premier League.

It is now five games unbeaten for Keith Andrews, with Nathan Collins scoring the other to put them two up despite late efforts by Beto and Thierno Barry to catch up. 

Brentford looked the stronger from the first half, while Everton struggled with sloppy passes and a lack of fight. It did not take long for Thiago to score, slipping the ball past Jordan Pickford off a fantastic touch and cross from Vitaly Janelt in the 11th minute.

His would stay the only goal until the second half, and two Toffee substitutions over the break could not stop Brentford’s next two goals in just two minutes, with Collins’ header coming off a corner and Thiago grabbed his second with Kevin Schade’s help.

Beto scored in the 66th minute to put some life back in the hosts and narrow their deficit back down to two, and they looked more competitive after his header. 

But Thiago would complete his hat-trick just before the end of regulation time off a fast break to halt that momentum. He was just too fast for Michael Keane to catch, clipping the ball above Pickford to see it sail into an empty goal, and he was soon subbed off to big cheers from the away stand.

Everton continued to press in the last few minutes of added time to find a positive end to the match, and Barry delivered by directing a stunning cross by Jack Grealish into the left corner.

The whistle blew shortly after, and Brentford would leave Liverpool with a full three points to push them to seventh in the table, while Everton dropped to 12th. 

Brentford meet Sunderland at home on Wednesday, while Everton will hope for a better result at the Hill Dickinson Stadium as they host Wolverhampton Wanderers the same evening.

Today was undeniably his day, what a start to his 2026!

Everton attempt one last push but the ball is quickly taken off them. The whistle goes and thanks to Igor Thiago, Brentford jump to seventh.

Thiago comes off for Peart-Harris, he heads back to the bench clutching his hattrick ball.

Barry scores off a ball by Grealish, he's waiting at the far post and he just nods it in. It won't matter too much now but it's a more positive last few minutes.

What a delight for the Brazillian, Thiago breaks free and despite Tarkowski chasing desperately after him, he tips it safely over Pickford and it sails cleanly into the net.

It's gone all wrong for Everton at home, and this is surely all over now.

Four added minutes called.

Henderson sends a ball to Damsgaard who runs down the goal line but the ref tells him he hasn't kept the ball in. Barry now on the right, gets it to Amstrong then to Garner curving towards the goal post - but it was well defended by Janelt to make it a corner.

Kelleher gets to the corner, Everton keep the ball in the Bees' half, and Kelleher pushes out the next attempt again.

Everton move up again, Rohl with the cross to Keane but he doesn't get it right.

Five minutes of relegation time to go.

Grealish sends a ball across the box, a little too far to O' Brien past the far post, and the chance fizzles out. Brentford throw in and they are taking their time again.

Thiago and Tarkowski have a bit of a heated exchange after the Everton captain pushes the striker down. Tensions are rising as we hit the last ten minutes of regulation time, Moyes' temper is also high as he tries to dispute a Brentford throw-in.

The skies have also opened up as sleet pours down now.

Hickey comes off for Henry. 15 minutes on the clock, have the Bees done enough?

There was a glimpse of a chance for Thiago to break but a messy touch sees Everton catch him.

Moyes now pulls off Iroegbunam and brings on Armstrong.

Everton are hovering around the box, they finally try for the goal, Rohl goes for it straight into Kelleher's arms.

Everton corner after a Grealish dispute, Iroegbunam tries to go for it but there are too many Brentford men in the way.

Hickey goes for the throw-in, the stands boo him for time-wasting and the referee steps forward to speak to him - to ask him to pull his socks up?

Brentford scramble in Everton's final third, but can't produce anything to challenge Pickford before Everton free kick is called.

Brentford move towatds goal, Damsgaard drives it up the pitch, gets it to Lewis-Potter, who tips it to Thiago in clear air - it's a couple touches too many, he gets caught by defenders and Pickford scoops up his weak attempt easily. A shame.

Janelt rockets a ball into the stands from distance and it's goal kick Everton. It goes long and Beto chases after it to make it a throw in.

Grealish delivers the ball in, it comes to Beto in the middle of the box and he nods it towards the far post past Kelleher's gloves!

There is hope yet for the Toffees!

There is a pause, Schade potentially fouls O' Brien and the referee is having another look. No case for O' Brien as it's silly behavior more than malicious.

Tarkowski fights for a header and forces Kelleher to push it over the cross bar. Corner Everton.

It comes in, and it drops straight to Schade. The whistle is blown and Brentford make changes

Schade and Jensen off for Lewis-Potter and Henderson, who makes his 450th Premier League appearance.

Everton are sorely missing their squad as Brentford are absolutely dominating at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. The Toffees are in desperate need of some magic in the last 35 minutes of this match.

They work the ball into the Bees' final third, but they just can't get past the defenders.

Iroegunam heads into the box again but he goes to ground and the fans are frustrated that he hadn't passed.

And what is happening? Brentford disposesses the hosts, Schade runs it down and Thiago picks it up to stun Pickford with a third.

Hold on - it's being looked at for a potential offside, but it's clear! It's officially a second for Brazilian and Moyes will be furious that his subs haven't made the impact he wanted.

Thiago runs the ball towards the box, but he is headed off easily by two defenders and Pickford. Everton also get a counter, but is similarly stopped by Kelleher. It's looking a little sharper for Everton and they will need that fight.

Corner Everton after an attempt, oh and it's a goal! Collins finds a massive space and he gets his head to it to bring Brentford two up!

Everton have made a double change, Dibling and McNeil out for Beto and Rohl. No changes for Brentford.

Everton get us underway for the second half, Beto with an immediate effort!

What a save! Grealish fires a ball through the box, Barry dives to slam his head into it but Kelleher gets the block! It comes out to Keane who levels a shot but that is blocked too and the whistle blows.

It so nearly could have been an equaliser but Everton will continue to hunt their first goal.

It was a bad corner delivery and Everton clear. Brentford get the ball back to Kelleher to rest, and now they press. Thiago finds himself a gap and the ball comes through - he's one on one with Pickford and he makes the save!

Fourth corner of the match for Brentford, the header comes out and Hickey can't keep hold of the ball for Everton throw in.

Grealish tries to pick the ball off Brentford with a flick, but it pops loose!

Damsgaard snatches it, crosses, and Schade comes flying in for the ball - straight into Pickford. That was a lovely chance.

Thiago down the right again, sends it into the box and Schade and Hickey both rise for it just to miss.

Everton just can't get it together, Damsgaard picks up another sloppy pass but Tarkowski makes it a corner.
