Everton 1-4 Newcastle result - Malick Thiaw’s brace and goals from Lewis Miley, Nick Woltemade secure first Premier League away win for The Magpies

Malick Thiaw scored twice as Newcastle secured their first Premier League away win of the campaign, courtesy of an emphatic 4-1 victory at Everton.

The Magpies flew out of the traps with Thiaw heading in the top-flight’s quickest goal of the season from Lewis Miley’s corner on 52 seconds - nine fewer than it took Phil Foden to set the previous record in Manchester City's afternoon victory over Leeds United.

The visitors added a second when Miley’s bouncing shot somehow squirmed past Jordan Pickford on 25 minutes before Nick Woltemade grabbed his seventh goal for the club with a delightful lob on the stroke of half time.

Everton substitute Carlos Alcaraz crashed a scorching shot against the crossbar as the hosts looked for a way back into it, but Newcastle added a fourth just shy of the hour when Thiaw headed in his second of the night.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall did net a consolation 21 minutes from time, but it was only a minor blot on the away side’s copybook as they marked boss Eddie Howe's 48th birthday in style.

The result sees Newcastle climb to 11th spot, level on 18 points with Everton but ahead of the 14th-placed Toffees on goal difference.

Next up, Newcastle host Tottenham on Tuesday night. Everton are at Bournemouth.

The Newcastle fans urge Thiaw to let fly with a 35-yarder, but he resists trying to cap his night with a hat-trick and it's a nice spell of keep-ball from the visitors that moves them ever close to what will surely be the inevitable three points now.

It came after Woltemade had opened Everton up with a sublime reverse ball in-behind.

The Magpies became a touch complacent at 4-0 and don't want this to get tricky late on given how well they have played to put themselves in such an overwhelmingly strong position.

Woltemade is a whisker away from flicking home a right-wing corner at the near post, allowing Pickford to react and punch to safety.
