PRESSURE BUILDS ON ARNE SLOT AS LIVERPOOL HELD BY RELEGATION BATTLERS BURNLEY
Liverpool were held for a fourth successive Premier League game as Marcus Edwards scored his first-ever English top-flight goal to earn Burnley a surprise 1-1 draw at Anfield.
Florian Wirtz continued his fine form with a stunning strike to break the deadlock in the 42nd minute, but Edwards was clinical midway through the second half to draw Burnley level with a driven effort.
It could have been a very different outcome had Dominik Szoboszlai scored his first-half penalty. The Hungary international had converted 20 of his 21 career spot-kicks before today but fluffed his lines, seeing his effort thunder back off the crossbar.
Arne Slot's side dominated for much of the game but were far from clinical enough as Martin Dubravka made six saves throughout to stop long shots from the likes of Wirtz, Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike.
It may look like a snatch-and-grab point from Burnley as they scored from their only shot on target, but the Clarets battled hard and were good value for the draw.
Liverpool, who too often turned to shooting from range in frustration, are now just one point ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United. Burnley, meanwhile, edge to within seven points of safety.

BRILLIANT FROM EDWARDS
Burnley have chosen their moments to show some bravery on the transition and they have reaped the rewards.
There will have been plenty of pressure on Edwards to convert but he put his chance away with confidence to silence Anfield.
That was Edwards' first-ever Premier League goal.
