Liverpool 1-1 Tottenham result - Richarlison earns draw for Spurs as late equaliser gives Igor Tudor deserved point in Premier League relegation fight

Richarlison rescued a merited 1-1 draw for injury-hit Tottenham as his last-gasp finish denied Liverpool a vital victory in their push for UEFA Champions League qualification.

Despite being a poor imitation of the team which won the Premier League last season, Arne Slot's men looked like they might hang on for the victory courtesy of Dominik Szoboszlai's 25-yard free-kick which somehow eluded goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario in the centre of his goal on 18 minutes.

But Richarlison, who went close on several occasions for Igor Tudor's spirited side, had the final say when the home team failed to deal with a long ball from deep, and the Brazilian forward raced onto a pass from Randal Kolo Muani to slot the ball beyond Alisson.

After losing his first four matches, it was a merited point for Tudor and Spurs, who end the day in 16th spot, a point clear of relegation-haunted rivals Nottingham Forest and West Ham before they host Forest next Sunday.

But Liverpool, with teenage winger Rio Ngumoha outstanding on his first league start, must reflect upon a dismal performance as they remain fifth, two points behind Aston Villa after blowing the chance to move into fourth in the race for a Champions League spot.

"We needed to follow the plan for today," said the Tottenham defender on Sky Sports amid a squad severely depleted by injury and suspension.

"My team-mates did the same. We knew we had to stay 1-0 in the second half, and this was important for the game.

"We are playing for the manager and this is important for everyone now.

"We needed to push because it was a difficult game. Today the team was good, the fans were unbelievable also, and we keep going now.

"I always believe in my team. At this moment, you need everyone together, and today we had a good game.

"For now we take the point, take the positive things."

But sound if frantic defending by Spurs as Sarr does well to block the finish from Hugo Ekitiké. Breathless end, but the final whistle sounds, and Spurs have earned a 1-1 draw. Excellent day for Tottenham.

Do they have time to go and get a winner? Liverpool all at sea again at the back as the Simons pass drifts out of play for a corner to Spurs. James Rowswell replaces Richarlison late on.

Richarlison with a fine finish from the Randal Kolo Muani pass. Brilliant little move, and that is a superb finish beyond Alisson. And you can't say that goal wasn't coming. A deserved leveller. Liverpool all over the place from a long ball. 1-1 late on.

Decided to come through a lot of traffic to punch clear before getting down low to his left to clasp the Simons effort. And on we go then.

That makes for grim reading even if today's performance has been pretty good. Just lacking the goal as Szoboszlai drills a fanciful effort well wide of the rigging.

Trey Nyoni replaces Cody Gakpo for the closing moments of a match of genuine raw energy, but not exactly vintage finishing quality.

But they seem content to hand Spurs the keys to the front door. Spurs will kick themselves if they fail to pick up a point today. Salah with a corner for the home side, but Sarr doing enough to get a vital flick on it. A change coming for the home side.

Plenty of energy going forward, but leaving all sorts of space at the back as Richarlison just fails to connect with the Gray cross in front of goal. That looked like it shaved the top of his barnet. So close again for Spurs.

If only he did similar from the Szoboszlai free-kick in the first half. Ryan Gravenberch with a deflected shot straight into the arms of the Spurs goalkeeper.

One end to the other in little or no time. Who cares for game management? Or time on the ball? Not sure what Liverpool are doing, but they are giving Spurs plenty of encouragement as Randal Kolo Muani and Callum Olusesi come on for Djed Spence and Mathys Tel.

The Egypt striker looking very dangerous with Liverpool hitting on the break. He picks the pocket of Dragusin, but ends up driving the shot well wide. Big chance. Not taken. Rapidly becoming a game of "what if?" this match. For both teams.

Mohamed Salah shows his quality in accepting a pass from Gakpo, who then just fails to pick out Ekitiké. Superb stuff from Salah.

Richarlison on the charge and smashes a powerful effort at the home goal, but Alisson well positioned to make the stop. Hugo Ekitiké then lifts the ball miles over at the other end. Heading for a taut end to this encounter.

Very deep and was asking questions of the Liverpool defence, but just too much for Richarlison at the back stick. Spurs giving as good they are getting in this match. No question.

Rio Ngumoha, Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz are replaced by Hugo Ekitike, Curtis Jones Mo Salah as the home side try to put this match to bed. Which is easier said than done.
