Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Everton result - Joao Palhinha's rebound guides Spurs to Premier League safety on final day

Tottenham Hotspur saved their Premier League status with one of their best performances of the season.

They had midfielder Joao Palhinha to thank as he scored on 43 minutes when he followed up his own header that hit the woodwork, firing the ball home at the second opportunity.

Spurs had to make sure they won or drew against Everton as West Ham were comfortable winners against Leeds elsewhere in London.

In the end, Roberto De Zerbi's men held on stoutly in defence and occasionally threatened David Moyes' team in attack.

Everton finished the day in 13th spot, missing out on a chance to qualify for Europe as other results also went against them, while Spurs finish the season in 17th.
