BOTTOM SIDE WOLVES DENT VILLA'S TOP-FOUR AMBITIONS
Wolves put a dent in Aston Villa's Champions League hopes with an impressive 2-0 victory at Molineux.
Second-half goals from Joao Gomes and Rodrigo Gomes provided welcome relief for the Premier League's bottom side, as they enjoyed a rare win.
Villa had the first sight on goal after just six minutes, but Ollie Watkins hesitated at the vital moment, and allowed Toti to make an important intervention.
The game was lacking in attacking quality until the hour, when Adam Armstrong unwittingly put Jackson Tchatchoua's cross on a plate for Joao Gomes, who brilliantly swept past Emi Martinez off the underside of the crossbar.
Unai Emery's side pushed for the equaliser. Ian Maatsen stung Jose Sa's palms, while Yerson Mosquera was well-placed to clear Amadou Onana's goalbound effort in stoppage time.
Yet, Wolves broke away to seal the win in the dying moments, with Rodrigo Gomes sweeping in to send the home fans into ecstasy.

A MORALE-BOOSTING WIN FOR WOLVES
Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, statistically, Wolves will no longer be the worst team in Premier League history.
Victory this evening saw Rob Edwards' side surpass Derby County's record-low tally of 11 from the 2007/08 campaign.
The league table suggested that this would be a straightforward victory for Unai Emery's team, who also dropped points against struggling Leeds United last time out.
Yet, they were unable to truly impose themselves in their quest for a first league win at Molineux since 2020.
While attacking quality generally came at a premium for both sides, Wolves took both of their key chances when they arrived.
Joao Gomes was clinical for the breakthrough, while Rodrigo Gomes' clincher had Edwards racing down the touchline to celebrate a rare and morale-boosting victory with the supporters.
