LIVERPOOL'S TOP FOUR PUSH SUFFERS MAJOR BLOW AS WOLVES RECORD LAST-GASP VICTORY
A heavily-deflected Andre goal gave rock-bottom Wolves a famous 2-1 win over Liverpool to dent Arne Slot’s champions’ top four hopes at Molineux.
The Merseysiders played at a pedestrian pace throughout the first 45 with a wayward Jeremie Frimpong strike the best the visitors could muster.
The away side moved up a level in the second half with only Cody Gakpo and Curtis Jones knowing how they failed to open the scoring from a yard out after Hugo Ekitike had flicked on a right-wing corner.
It got worse for Slot's side soon after as Wolves turned from defence to attack to snatch the lead 12 minutes from time, when Andre Gomes latched on to fellow substitute Tolu Arokodare’s flick-on and clipped home a wonderful finish.

Mohamed Salah seized upon a stray pass to fire Liverpool level five minutes later but, in an end-to-end, barnstorming finale, it was the hosts who grabbed the points when Joe Gomez diverted Andre’s long-range effort beyond Alisson.

Wolves are still anchored to the foot of the table and are 11 points adrift of safety with eight games to play. However, Rob Edwards’ men have picked up back-to-back wins and have lost just once in their last six matches in all competitions.
Next up, the teams will reconvene at Molineux in an FA Cup fifth round encounter on Friday night.

TNT SPORTS' ALLY MCCOIST REACTS TO WOLVES' LAST-GASP WIN OVER LIVERPOOL
"It’s quite remarkable. It really is. It was as poor a 45 minutes as you and I have seen, perhaps all season, maybe for many a season.
"But boy, when it ignited, did it ignite! A great opening goal for Wolves.... The second goal, a little bit of fortune.
"They’ve had a really tough season, but they are playing for themselves and playing for the fans."

On Liverpool suffering a major blow in their top-four push: "It really is (a massive blow). It’s a massive disappointment for Liverpool. The only thing I would say, is that I don’t think for a minute they took it for granted. Look what Wolves did to Arsenal. They go two nothing up, they come back two each, so the last few weeks, it’s a difficult place to come.
"They defended exceptionally well and when they got their chance they took it - what a great night for them."
