A heavily-deflected Andre goal gave rock-bottom Wolves a famous 2-1 win over Liverpool to dent Arne Slot’s champions’ top four hopes at Molineux.

Mohamed Salah seized upon a stray pass to fire Liverpool level five minutes later but, in an end-to-end, barnstorming finale, it was the hosts who grabbed the points when Joe Gomez diverted Andre’s long-range effort beyond Alisson.

The result sees Arne Slot’s champions remain in fifth, three points behind both Aston Villa and Manchester United having played a game more.

Wolves are still anchored to the foot of the table and are 11 points adrift of safety with eight games to play. However, Rob Edwards’ men have picked up back-to-back wins and have lost just once in their last six matches in all competitions.
Next up, the teams will reconvene at Molineux in an FA Cup fifth round encounter on Friday night.
