The Portugal midfielder has spent nine years at the Etihad Stadium after moving from Monaco in 2017 and has gone on to become a Manchester City and Premier League great.
Silva has played 451 matches for City, scoring 76 goals and assisting 77 more.
He has seen City keep up a period of extreme and sustained success, which included four Premier League titles in a row between 2021 and 2024 and the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League treble in 2023.
In total, Silva has won 19 trophies at City, including six Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League, two FA Cup triumphs and the Carabao Cup five times, including the triumph over Arsenal last month.
City and Silva could yet end with more silverware, with the club chasing Arsenal for Premier League glory and into the final four of the FA Cup, with a favourable semi-final tie against Southampton.
Silva's longevity at the club has seen him become the club captain, and he has led the club in 27 of their Premier League matches this season.
City have seven more Premier League matches remaining, while they could play two more in the FA Cup - with their semi-final available to watch live on TNT Sports and HBO Max on Saturday, April 25.
Silva took to social media to make the announcement official, saying: "When I arrived 9 years ago, I was following a dream of a little boy, wanting to succeed in life, wanting to achieve great things.
"This city and this club gave me much more than that, much more than I ever hoped for, what we won and achieved together is a legacy that will forever be cherished in my heart.
"The Centurions, the domestic quadruple, the Treble, the Four In A Row and much more… It wasn’t that bad.
"In a few months it’s time to say goodbye to the city where not only we won so much as a football club, but also where I started my marriage and my family - from the bottom of my heart, Ines and Carlota, thank you!"
City have said they will be arranging a fitting farewell to Silva at the end of the season.
