Manchester City may have a minor advantage over Liverpool in the hunt for the Premier League title, with Omar Marmoush giving a unique insight into The Reds' attack. Marmoush played with Hugo Ekitike at Frankfurt, while he represents Egypt alongside Mohamed Salah. Omar Marmoush has spoken candidly about former team-mate Hugo Ekitike and fellow Egypt international Mohamed Salah, as he gave an insight into Liverpool's devastating attack.

The Manchester City forward is expected to play a part as Pep Guardiola's side battle Liverpool for the Premier League title this season with their next match against Tottenham, live on TNT Sports and discovery+ on Saturday.

And that would see him rival ex-colleague Ekitike, who he played alongside at Frankfurt, and Salah, who he plays with at international level.

"Salah was the best player in the Premier League last season, and has been at the very, very top level for so many seasons I cannot even count. We all know what quality he has," Marmoush told TNT Sports about his compatriot.

Ekitike joined Liverpool this summer and has already netted twice, in the FA Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace, and the club's opening Premier League win over Bournemouth.

"Hugo just came to Liverpool. He had a very good start to the season and that doesn't surprise me," said Marmoush.

"I played with him in Frankfurt, he also has a lot of qualities, but hopefully, when we play against them, we can beat them."

Marmoush also spoke about his manager Pep Guardiola, whom he labelled the "best in the world".

"It's been amazing, working with the best coach in the world and always trying to learn from him and how he explains the game, the tactics," he said.

"He just explains it in a way that helps you understand the game and helps you improve. The passion, every training, every game, he just pushes you to give your best and I'm very happy to be working under the best coach in the world.

"Hopefully I can improve and learn a lot."

Marmoush also hopes to learn from team-mate Erling Haaland, who has bagged 126 goals in 147 games since joining Man City in 2022.

"He's been scoring so many goals for a big amount of time, always been motivated, finding that hunger to just keep going, score that amount of goals," he said.

"It's very impressive and it just helps me to be here, with a player like Haaland who knows how to score goals and where the spaces are. It's a pleasure to be working with him."

Speaking about the pair's partnership, he added: "It's developed a lot. I think what's most important is the friendship that you have off the pitch, and that reflects on the pitch.

"You always try to support each other if you are on the pitch together, or not. Just having him on the pitch makes the threat much bigger."

This season, Marmoush was among the City stars to donate to the club's charity, supporting its free school holiday programme during the 2025/26 season.

Jeremey Doku, Rico Lewis, James Trafford and Matheus Nunes all made appearances at the club's Soccer School Sessions this summer.
