Moises Caicedo signs new contract, midfielder has 'dream to become Chelsea legend' after agreeing Blues deal to 2033

The midfielder is in his third season at Stamford Bridge, having moved from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2023.

He joined on an initial eight-year deal until 2031, but has now signed a two-year extension, having reportedly pushed for improved terms.

He told the club's official website: "I am so happy to have extended my contract at Chelsea. I believe in this team, this club and I know we’re going in the right direction. We’ve only just begun together.

"There is still a lot more to achieve, and I’m very hungry to keep improving every day. I want to win more trophies with Chelsea and give everything for this club and for the fans.

"We have enjoyed some great times together already, and my dream is to become a Chelsea legend, and I will work as hard as possible to make that happen."

Caicedo joined Chelsea in a then-British-record £100 million deal, rising to a reported £115m, though this has since been surpassed by Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak's moves to Liverpool.

The Ecuador international enjoyed his first silverware with the club last season as they won the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup.

He has made 140 appearances for The Blues, becoming one of their most important players.

He was named Chelsea's Player of the Year last season, after Cole Palmer collected the award in the pair's debut campaign.

Caicedo was the only player to start in every Premier League match last season under former manager Enzo Maresca.

He has started in 26 of The Blues' 32 league games this time around, having missed four matches through suspension, while starting in nine of their 10 UEFA Champions League fixtures.

Caicedo's extension comes shortly after Chelsea tied down another one of their star players, with captain Reece James penning a new six-year deal last month.

Enzo Fernandez, Caicedo's central midfield partner, is among the other Chelsea players to have reportedly discussed a new deal.

However, progress with the Argentinian has not been as successful, with Fernandez returning from a two-game internal ban this weekend following comments made during international duty about wanting to live in Madrid, amid reports linking him with Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, when Caicedo was asked during the international break whether he would ever be interested in a move to Madrid, he said: "I'm focused on my club right now. I want to be a legend."
