Summer friendlies 2026: Dates, fixtures as Premier League giants such as Arsenal & Manchester United prepare for 2026/27 season

The 2026 FIFA World Cup has already been placed in the history books, with attention immediately turning to the club game. Read on for the pre-season schedules of selected Premier League and European teams, as sides across the continent prepare to do battle once more.

Most elite clubs are planning tours abroad of some description, while others are yet to finalise their full pre-season schedule.
As well as friendlies, trophy-winning teams from the 2025/26 campaign intersperse their preparations with one-off cup games of various descriptions, including the FA Community Shield, which will be shown live on TNT Sports and HBO Max.
Premier League champions Arsenal and Emirates FA Cup winners Manchester City will go head-to-head on Sunday, August 16 in Cardiff, but there is plenty of pre-season football to happen before then.
Enzo Maresca will surely be hoping to kick off his reign at Man City with a piece of silverware, while Mikel Arteta and his side are certain to fight tooth-and-nail to add to their coffers once more.
Here are all the details of the elite clubs' pre-season schedules.
Arsenal pre-season schedule
Arsenal are staying close to home for their pre-season, only leaving the UK for an appointment with Girona on Saturday, August 1 and a meeting against Real Betis in Dublin the following Wednesday.
After that, Arteta's team will face Borussia Dortmund and Como at home before travelling to Cardiff for their Community Shield date with Maresca's men.

Manchester City pre-season schedule
Manchester City have arranged three friendlies ahead of their trip to the Principality Stadium, facing Inter in Hong Kong first up.
Two tests in Seoul follow, as a select squad of K-League All Stars will hope to pull off a shock before Atletico Madrid roll into town on Sunday, August 9.

Manchester United pre-season schedule
Manchester United's pre-season got underway with a surprise 1-0 defeat to EFL Championship outfit Wrexham.
But their Scandinavian tour continues with battles against Rosenborg, Atletico Madrid and PSG. Finally, United finish off their friendlies with an encounter with Leeds United in Dublin and a match against AC Milan in Wroclaw.

Aston Villa pre-season schedule
Aston Villa have a packed pre-season ahead of them, with no fewer than seven friendlies planned, as well as the UEFA Super Cup to contend with against UEFA Champions League winners PSG.
Porto, Real Sociedad, Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach are some of the other sides to meet Villa, who jet off on a tour of East Asia at the end of July.

Liverpool pre-season schedule
New head coach Andoni Iraola will get a first look at his Liverpool side in competitive action on The Reds' tour of the United States, with Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds all booked in.
Two matches at Anfield against Monaco and Como round off Liverpool's warm-up campaign.

Chelsea pre-season schedule
Chelsea are heading east for their pre-season, with Sydney their first destination. There, a London derby against Tottenham Hotspur awaits.
After travelling north, Xabi Alonso's Blues will come up against Juventus and AC Milan in Hong Kong and Jakarta respectively.

Tottenham Hotspur pre-season schedule
Roberto De Zerbi has his work cut out before the start of the new Premier League season, with four matches planned at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Aside from that quartet of home matches, which includes a double-header against Hoffenheim, Spurs will play Auckland FC and Sydney FC in their tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Barcelona pre-season schedule
Barcelona's pre-season has not yet been fully confirmed, with a fixture against Al Ahly still to be decided, but a match against Birmingham City is definitely in the diary.
Barca will also take part in a triple round-robin between themselves Nottingham Forest and Udinese, with each match-up lasting 45 minutes.

After a stop in Germany to face Karlsruher, Internazionale move to Hong Kong to play Manchester City in their first game in the far east.

Bayern Munich are keeping their feet on home soil for their first pair of fixtures, against lower league opposition in the form of Wehen Wiesbaden and Rottach-Egern.
A trip east follows, with Jeju SK and Aston Villa waiting for them, while their final scheduled match-up comes against Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig.
